An Ordinance specifying and selexting the paving material to be
used and letting, a contract for the excavating, grading,
and paving of all of the unpaved portion of Santa Fe Avenue
in the city of Salina, Kansas, in the center --of -said
Santa Fe Avenue as now occupied by the tracks of the
Salina Street Railway Company, from a point 230 feet
south of South Street to the north line of Beloit Avenue
in said City, (with the exception however of the interf
sectionn of Prescott Avenue, Crawford Avenue, Bond
Street, Wilson Street and Republic Avenue.)
BE IT ORDAITIED by the Board of Cor.missioners of the City of
Salina, Kansas:
Section _l. That it is hereby determined that all of the
unpaved portion of Santa Fe Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas,
in the center of said Santa Fe Avenue as now occupied by the
tracks of the Salina Street Railway Company, from a point 230
feet south of South Street to the north line of Beloit Avenue in
said.City,,(with the exception however of the intersections of
Prescott Avenue, Crawford Avenue, Bond Street, Filson Street and
Republic avenue) s#all be paved with one course vertical fiber
plain wire out brick, not less than tree (3) inches deep, with
asphalt filler laid on a foundation of five (5) inches in depth
of Portland Cement Concrete base with one (1) inch sand cushion,
such pavement within the limits above defined to be twelve (12 )
feet in width.
Section 2. All excavating, filling and rolling necessary
for the proper construction of such improvements shall be done
and all of such improvements shall be made and done in strict
conformity to and in compliance with the plans and specifications
heretofore made by the City Engineer of Galina, Kansas and now on
file with the City Clerk of said City, which plans and specifi-
cations are hereby incorporated in and made a part hereof in
all respects as fully and completely as though written out at
length herein; which said plans and specifications are hereby
adopted as and for the plans and specifications of such Fork
and improvements.
Section 3. That a contract is hereby awarded to C. P.
Barrington for the paving and excavating and filling of the
above mentioned street in the limits aforesaid with the materials
hereinbefore speci

according to the measurements made by the City Engineer of the
City of Salina. It is hereby determined and fourd that the
prices to be paid for the improvements as aforesaid is less
than the estimated prices ofo- uch improvements as nor on file
with the City Clerk of the City of Saline., lansas.
Section 4. Such contract is awarded upon the express
conditions that such work and improvements shall be done in
strict accordance with and in compliance with the plans and
specifictaionts of the City Engineer therefor, which plans and
specifications are hereby made a part of this ordinance and of
the contract awarded, and upon further conditions among others
that the person to whom said contract is awarded shall furnish
to the
City of Salina a
surety Company bond in, the
approximate
sum of
the cost of such
improvements, guaranteeing
the prompt,
proper and workmanlike construction of all the same together
with a surety company bond guaranteeing such pavement against
all defects in material and workmanship for a period of five
(5) years from the date of its completion and acceptance by
said City, and said contract is awarded: upon a further condition
that said person shall furnish a good and sufficient surety
company bond running to the -tate of Eansas in an amount approxi-
mately equal to the contract price of said Improvements and con-
ditioned that said C. P. Bsrrington shall pay all indebtedness
for labor and material furnished in making the improvements pro-
vided for herein.
Section 5. The Board of Commissioners of the, City of
Salina are hereby authorized to make and enter into on behalf of
said City all written agreements necessary in order to secure the
construction of the imporvements provided for herein.
Section Vii. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
farce from and after its publication once in the official City
paper.

place, for the labor actually performed and the material actu-
ally furnished at the following prices: For excavating and
grading One and No/100 ($1.00) Dollars per cubic yard; for

�r3:)per square yard. All of said work shall be paid for
according to the measurements made .&y the City Engineer of the
City of Salina. It is hereby determined and found that the
