2956 Street Improvements Iron AvenueAn Ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be used and letting a contract for the excavating, grading and Paving of all of the unpaved portion of Iron tt-venue in the City of Salina, Eansas in the center of said. iron Avenue occupied by the tracks of the Salina Street Rail- way Company from the east line of Penn Avenue to the west line of Delaware Avenue in said City. BE IT uHD1_IN_eD by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That it is hereby determined, that all of the unpaved portion of iron Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas in the center of said Iron Avenue occupied by the tracks of The Salina Street Railway Company from the east line of Penn Avenue to the west line of Delaware Avenue in said City shall be pLAved with one course vitrified vertical fiber plain wire cut brick not less than three inches deep with asphalt filler laid on a foundation of five in- ches in depth of Portland Cement Concrete base with one inch sand cushion., such pavement within the limits above defined to be eight and one-half feet in wid.th. Section 2, All excavating, filling and rolling necessary for the proper construction of such improvements shall be done and all of such im-orovements shall be made and done in strict con- form ty to and in compliance with the plans and specifications heretofore made by the Uity Engineer of Salina, -vansas and now on file with the City Clerk of said Uity, wiUch plans and specifica- tions are hereby incorporated in and made a part hereof in all re- spects as fully and completely as though written out at length herein; which plans and specifications are hereby adopted as and for the plans and specifications of such work and improvement. Section 3. That a contract is hereby awarded to G. p. Barrington for the paving,, excavating and filling the above men- tioned streets in the limits aforesaid with the materials herein- before specified for the paving actually laid and put in place, for the labor actually performed and material actually furnished at the following prices: For excavating and grading $1.00 per cubic yard; for paving actually laid and put in,place $3.98 per square yard. All of said work shall be Paid for according to the measure- ments nade by the City Engineer of the .City of Salina. It is hereby determined and found that the prices to be paid for the im- proveMents as aforesaid is less than the estimated prices of each and all of said improvements as now on file with the City Clerk of the Uity of Salina, iiansas. [1 C 1 Section 4. Such contract is awarded upon the express con- dition that such work and improvement shall be done in strict accordance with and in compliance with the plans and specifications of the City Engineer therefor, Which plans and specifications are hereby made a part of this ordinance and of the contract awarded, and upon furhter conditions among others that the person to whom said contract us awarded shall furnish to the Cit; of Salina a surety company bond in the approxinmt-e sum of"the cost of such improvements, guaranteeing the prompt, proper and workmanlike coop struction of all the same together Frith a surety company bond guaranteeing such pavement against all defects in material and workmanship for a period of five (5) years from the date of its completion and acceptance by said City and said contract is marded upon a further condition that w aid C. P. Barrington shall furnish a good and sufficient surety company bond running to the State of Kansas in an amount approximately equal to the contract price of said improvements and conditioned that said C. P. Barring- ton shall pay all indebtedness for labor and material furnished in making the improvements provided for herein. Section 5. IThe Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina are hereby authorized to make and enter into on behalf of said City all written agreements in order to secure the construction of the improvements provided for herein. Section b. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication once in the official City paper. Introduced for first reading, March 10th, 1924. Section 3. That a contract is hereby awarded to C. P. Barringp ton for the paving, excavating and filling the above mentioned streets in the limits aforesaid with the materials hereinbefore specified, �� r1 0 0 for the paving actually laid and put in place, for.the labor actually performed and the material actually furnished at the following prices: For excavating and grading One and No/100 Dol- lars ($1.00) per cubic yard; for paving actually laid and put in place Three MUU Vg/7:4D ((; 3« 8i}' Dollars per square yard. All of said work shall be paid for according to the measurements made by the City Engineer of the City of Salina.
