2936 Street Improvements Highland Avenuecurb and gutter. Section 2. That it is hereby determined that Highland Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas from the south dine of Republic Avenue to the north line of Beloit Avenue in said City shall be curbed and guttered with one piece combination cement curb and gutter,:�.id combined curb and gutter shall be comprised of a curb six (6) inches thick at the tap and six and onez-�half (62) inches w thick at the top, with gutter twenty-four (24) inches wide, six (6) inches thick at the throat and seven (7) inches thick next to the pavement. Section 3. All excavating, filling and rolling necessary for the proper construction of such improvements shell, be done and all of such improvements shall be made and done in strict conformity to and in compliance with the plans and specifications heretofore made by the City Engineer of Salina, Kansas, and now, on file with the City Clerk of said City, which plans and speci- fications are hereby incorporated in and made a part hereof in all respects as fully and completely as though written out at length herein; which said plans and specifications are hereby adopted as and for the plans and specific ations of such work and improve- ment. Section 4. That a contract is hereby awarded to C. P. Bar- rington for the paving, curbing, guttering, excavating and filling the above mentioned street in the limits aforesaid with the material E hereinbefore specified, for the paving actually laid and put in k place;, for the labor actually performed and the materials actually furnished at the following prices: For excavating and grading One and No%100 (1.00) Dollars per cubic yard; for kortland Cement Concrete combined curb and gutter Ninety cents (90�) per lineal ORDINANCE NO. 2936 P - 4) An Ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to.be' used and letting a contract for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Highland Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas frog the sou E 1 U of 'Republic Avenue to the north line of Beloit Avenue in said City. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina Kansas: E Section 1. That it is hereby determined that Highland Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas from the south line of Republic Avenue to the north line of Beloit venue in said City shall be paved with one course vitrified vertical fiber plain wire out brick, not less than three (3) inches deep, with asphalt filler laid on a foundation of five (5) inches in depth of Portland Cement Concrete base with one (l) inch sand cushion, such pavement within the limits above defined to be thirtypfi,ve (35) feet excludiig curb and gutter. Section 2. All of said work shall be paid for according to the measurement made by the City Engineer of the City of Salina. It is hereby determined and found that the prices to be paid for the improvements as aforesaid is less than the esti- mated prices of each and all of said improvements as now on file with the City Clerk of the City of Salina, Kansas. Section 5. Such contract is awarded upon the express con- dition that such work and improvements shall be done in strict accordance with and in epmpliance with the plans and specifications of the City Engineer therefor, which plans and specificatWons are hereby made a part of this ordinance and of the contract awarded,, and upon further conditions among others that the person to whom said contract is awzrded shall furnish to the City of Salina a surety company bond in the approximates sum of the cost of such improvements guaranteeing the prompt, proper and workmanlike con- struction of all the same together with a surety company bond guaranteeing such pavement against all defects in material and workmanship for a period of five (5) years from the date of its completion and acceptance by said City; and said contract is award- ed upon a further condition that said C. P. Barrington shall fur- nish the City of Salina a good and sufficient surety company bond guaranteeing said curb and gutter against all defects in material and workmanship for a period of two (2) years from the date of its completion and acceptance of such work by the Qity; together with a good and sufficient surety company bond running to the State of Kansas in an amount approximately equal to the contract price of said improvements and conditioned that said C. P. Barrington shall pay all indebtedness for labor and material furnished in making the improvements provided for herein. Section 6. The Board of Commissioners of the C -qty of Salina are hereby authorized to make and enter into on behalf of said City all written agreements necessary in order to secure the con- struction of the improvements herein provided for. Section 7. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication once in the official City paper. Introduced for first reading, February 11th, 1924.
