An Ordinance relating to and apportioning, and levying special assess-
ments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Sa-
lina, Kansas to pay the cost of.curbing, guttering, excavating,
grading and paving Ninth Street in said City from the south
line of Crawford Avenue to the north line of Republic Avenue
therein and relating to and providing for the collection and
payment of such assessments.
BE IT uRDA1NED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. For the purpose of paying for the.cost of curbing,
guttering; excavating, grading and paving Ninth Street in the City
of Salina.. Kansas from the south line of..Crawford Avenue to the
north line of Republic Avenue in said City there are hereby lev-
ied and assessed on the property liable therefor, being all of the
lots and pieces,of ground lying on either side of said Ninth Street
for the distance improved as aforesaid to the center of the block
,on either side thereof according to the appraised value of such
lots and pieces of ground lying on either side of said Ninth Street
for the distamoe improved as aforesaid to the center of the block
on either side thereof according to the appraised value of such
lots and pieces of ground without regard to the buildings.or
improvements thereon, special assessments covering the cost of such
work and improvements, said special assessments being based on the
-special valuation and appraisement of said lots and pieces of ground
heretofore made by three disinterested appraisers, appointed
by the aoard of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, which
•said appraisement is hereby referred to and made a part of this
ordinance and the several amounts levied, apportioned and assessed
against each of said lots and pieces of ground for the purpose
aforesaid are hereby found and determined to be as follows:

Section 2. Said amounts levied, apportioned and assessed afore-
said shall be due and collectible in ten equal installments, the first
becoming due with the taxes levied for the year 1923 and one of said
installments falling due each and.every year thereafter until all
are paid', and all to be collected with interest as in this ordinance
provided; PRUVIDED, that the owner of any piece of property liable
for any such assessment may redeem his property from such liability
by paying into the City Treasury the entire amount chargeable against
the same as in this ordinance designated at any time within thirty days
after the publication of this ordinance and before.the issuance of the
bonds of said City in payment of the balance of said Lnprovements, and
his,property so paid on shall not thereafter be liable for any further
assessments for the cost of said improvements, nor for any part of
said bonds.
Section,3. There is hereby further levied and assessed against
each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance 6% interewt
per annum on all of said installments therein mentioned from the date
of the bonds, which may be issued at the end of thirty days, as specif-
ied in the preceding section hereof, as by law provided"to the time
of collection of the last installment, as provided by law, which said
interest shall be collected annually at the tame time and in the same
manner as said installments are collected; and after the taking effect
of this ordinance it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of said City'to
annually at the same time other taxes are certified and until all of
said assessments so apportioned and levied herein have been cebtified
to certify to the County Clerk of Salina County, Kansas a full lint of
all property liable to assessment and taxation for such work and impr-
ovement except such property on which the special assessments afore-
said'have been paid in full as herein provided for, together with the
respective amounts due on each of such lots and pieces of ground, which
amounts shall include the annual installments of such special assess-
ments together with the interest for one year at the rate of 6% per
annum, on all unpaid balances of such assessments at the beginning of
each such year as aforesaid, and such amounts so certified as herein
provided shall be placed upon the tax roll by the County Clerk of Saline
County, Kansas and collected as all other taxes are'collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take -effect and be in full force`
from and after its publication once in the official City paper.

Section 2. Said amounts levied., apportioned and assessqu
aforesaid, shall be due a nd.collectible in 10 equal ins tall.

every year thereafter until all are paid, and all to be
collected with interest as in this ordinance provided; PRO-
VIDED, that the owner of any piece of property liable for any
such assessment may rodeem his property from such liability
by paying into the City Treasury the entire amount chargeable
against the same, as in this ordinance designated, at any time
within thirty days'after't'_ze publication of this ordinance
and before the issuance of the bonds of said City in payment
of the balance of said improvements, and his property so paid
on shall not thereafter be liable fcr .ny further assessments
for the cost of said improvements, nor for any part of said
bonds,
Section 3. There is hereby further levied and assessed
against each lot and piece of g:,ound described in this ordin-
ance 6% interest per annum cn all. of ^aid installments therein
mentioned from the date of the bonds, which may be issued at
the end of thirty days, as specified in the preceding section
hereof, as by law provided to the time of collection of the
last installment, as provided by law, which said interest shall
be collected annually at the same time and in the same manner
as said installments are collected; and after the taking effect
of this ordinance it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of
said City to annually at the s ame time other taxes are certi-
fied, and until all of said as so apportioned and
levied herein have been cert.,.fied, to certify to the County
Clerk of Saline County, I.ansas, a full list of a 11 property
liable to assessment and taxatior, for such work and improvement.

interest for one year at the rate of 6%per annum, on all
unpaid balances of such assessments at the beginning of each
such year as aforesaid, and such amounts so certified as
herein provided shall be placed upon the tax roll by the
Vounty Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, and collected as all
other taxes are collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and after its publication once in the official
City paper.
