An Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessuen-
ts on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kan-
sas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and
paving TENTH STREET in said City from the south line of Crawford
avenue to the north line of Frost Street therein and relating to
and providing for the collection & payment of such assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the zoard of Conunissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas;
Section 1. For the purpose of paying the cost of curbing, gutter-
ing, excavating, grading and paving Tenth otreet in the City of Salina,
Kansas from the south line of Crawford Avenue to the north line of Frost
Street in said City there are hereby levied and assessed on the property
liable therefor, being all of the lots and pieces of ground lying on
either side of said Tenth Street for the distance improved as aforesaid
to the center of the block on either side thereof according to the a-
ppraised value of such lots g: pieces of ground without regard to the
buildings or improvements thereon, special assessments covering the
cost of such work and improvements, said special assessments being bassi
on the special.valuation and appraisement of said lots and pieces of
ground heretofore made by 3 disinterested appraisers appointed by the
Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas which said apprais-
ement is hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance and the
several amounts levied, apportioned and assessed against each of said
lots and pieces of ground for the purpose aforesaid are hereby found
and determ-ned to be as follows:

Section 2. Said amounts levied, apportioned and assessed aforesa ii
shall be due and collectible in ten equal installments, the first beeom•
ing due with taxes levied for the year 1923 and one of said installments
falling due each and every year thereafter until all are paid and all
to be collected with interest as in this ordinance provided; PROVIDED,
that the owner of any piece of property liable for any such assessment

may redeem his property from such liability -by paying into the City Treas-
ury the entire amount chargeable against same, as in this ordinance des-
ignated at any tire within 30 days after the publication of this ordinance
and before the issuance of bonds of said City in payment of the balance of
said improvements and his property so paid on shall not thereafter be liab
for any further assessments for the cost of said improvements nor for any
part of said bonds.
Section 3. There is hereby further levied and assessed against each
and piece of ground described in this -ordinance 6% interest per annum on all
of said installments therein mentioned from the date of bonds, which may be
issued at the end of thirty days as specified in the preceding section herec
as by law provided to the time of collection of the last installment as pro•
vided by law, which said interest shall be collected annually at the same
time and same manner as said installments are collected and after the tak-
ing effect of this ordinance it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of said
City to Annually, at the same time other taxes are certified and until all
of said assessments so apportioned and levied herein have been certified to
certify to the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas a full list of all
property liable to assessment and taxation for such work and improvements:
except such property on which special assessments aforesaid have been paid
in full as hereinbefore provided together with the respective amounts due
on each of such lots and pieces of ground which amounts shall include the
annual installments of such special assessments together with the interest
for 1 year at the rate'of 6% per annum on all unpaid balances of such asses:
ments.at the beginning of each such year as aforesaid and such amounts so
certified as herein provided shall be placed .upon the tax roll by the Count}
Clerk.of Saline County Kansas and collected.as other taxes are collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from
and after its publication once in the official City paper.

An Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces og ground in the
City of Salina, Kansas. to pay the cost.of curbing,

valuation and appraisement of said lots and pieces of ground
heretofore made by three disinterested appraisers, appointed
by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas,
which said appraisement is hereby referred to and made a part
of this ordinance and the several amounts levied, apportioned
and assessed against each of said lots and pieces of ground
for the purpose aforesaid are hereby found and determined to
be as follows:

Section 2. Said amounts levied., apportioned and a!,sessqu

VIDED, that the owner of any piece of property liable for any
such assessment may redeem h.is property from such liability
by paying into the City Treasury the entire amount chargeable
against the .same, as in this: ordinance designated, at any time
within thirty days after the publication of this ordinance
and before the issuance of the bonds of said City in payment
of the balance of said improvements, :1.nd his property so paid

'for the cost of.said improvements, nor for any part of said
bonds.
Section 3. There is hereby further levied and assessed
against each lot and piece of S.,ound described in this ordin-
ance 6% interest per annum on all of said installments therein
mentioned from the date of the bonds, which may be issued at
the end of thixtty days, as specified in the preceding section
hereof, as by law provided to the time of collection of the
last installment, as provided by law, which said interest shall
be collected annually at the sane time and in the same manner
as said installments are colleted; and after the taking effect
of this ordinance It shall be the duty of the City Clerk of
said City to annually at the s ame time other taxes are certi-
fied, and until all of said assessments so apportioned and
levied herein have been cer'J.%fled, to certify to the County
Clerk of Saline County, iansas, a full list of a 11 property
liable to assessment and taxacior for such work and improvement,
except such property on which uhe special assessments afore-
said have been paid in full as horeinbefore provided, to-
gether with the respecti.'ve amounts due on each of such lots

and pieces of ground, which amounts shall include the annual
installments of such special assessments together with the
interest for one year at the rate of 6% per annum, on all
unpaid balances of such assessments at the beginning of each
such year as aforesaid, and such amounts so certified as
herein provided shall be placed upon the tax roll by the
Bounty Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, and collected as all
other taxes are collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and after its publication once in the official
City paper.
