An Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying.special assess-
ments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the Oity of Salina..
Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating,
grading and paving Eleventh Street in said City from the north
line of Prescott Avenue to the south line of Charles Street
tk!erein,.and relating -to and paoriving for the collection and
payment of such assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas;
Section 1. For the purpose of paying the cost of curbing,
guttering, excavating, grading and paving ELEVENTH STREET in the
City of Salina, Kansas from the north line of Prescott Avenue to the
south line of Charles Street in said City, there are hereby levied
and assessed on the property liable therefor, being all of the lots
and pieces of ground lying on either side of said Eleventh Street
for the distance improved as aforesaid, to the center of the block
on either side thereof, according to the appraised value of such
lots and pieces of ground without regard to the buildings or improve-
ments thereon, special assessments covering the cost of such work
and improvements, said special assessments being based on the spe-
cial valuation and appraisement of said lots and pieces of ground
heretofore rude by three disinterested appraisers, appointed by the
Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, which said
appraisement is hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance
and the several amounts levied, apportioned and assessed against each
of said lots and pieces of ground for the purpose aforesaid are
hereby found and determined to be as follows.

Section 2. Said amounts levied, apportioned and assessed
aforesaid, shall be due and collectible in ten equal installments
the first becoming due with the taxes levied for the year 1923
and one of said installments falling due each and every year
thereafter until all are paid, and all to be collected with inter-
est as in this ordinance provided; PRuVIDED, that the owner, of
any piece of property liable for any such assessment may redeem
his property from such liability by paying into the City 'Treasury
the entire amount chargeable against the same, as in this ordin-
ance designated at any time within thirty days after the publica-
tion of this ordinance and before the issuance of the bonds of
said City in payment of the balance of said improvements, and his
property so paid on shall not thereafter be liable for any fur-
ther assessments for the cost of said improvements, nor for any
part of said bonds.
Section 3. There: is hereby further, levied and assessed
against each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance
6% interest per annum on all of said installments therein mentioned
from the date of the bonds, which may be issued at the end of thirty
days, as specified in the preceding; section hereof, as by law pro-
vided to the time of collection of the last installment, as provided
by law, which said interest shall be collected annually at the same
time and in the same manner as said installments are collected; arri
after the taking effect of this ordinance it shall be the duty of
the City Clerk of said City to annually, at the same time other
taxes are certified, and until all of said assessments so appor-
tioned and levied herein have been certified, to certify to the Cou-
nty
ou-my Clerk of Saline County, Kansas a full list of all property
liable to assessment and taxation for such work and improvements,
except such property on which the special assessments aforesaid

have been paid in full as hereinbefore provided, together with the
respective amounts due on each of such lots and pieces of ground,
which amounts shall include the annuallinstallments of such special
assessments together with the interest for one year at the rate of
6% per annum on all unpaid balances of such assessments at the be-
ginning of each such year; as aforesaid and such amounts so certified
as herein provided shall be placed upon the tax roll by the County
Clerk of Saline County, Kansas and collected as all other taxes are
collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force
from and after its publication once in the official City paper.

herein provided shall be placed upon the tax roll.by the
Bounty Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, and collected as all
other taxes are collected<
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and after its publication once in the official
City paper,
