An urdinance relating to and apportioning and levying._special assess-
ments an certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina,
Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading,
and paving MORRISON AVENUE in said City from the east line of
Eleventh Street to the west line of Twelfth otreet therein, and
relating.to and providing for the collection and pay went of such
assessments.
BE 1T uRDAINE`D..by the_.Board.of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. For the purpose of paying for the cost of curbing,
guttering, excavating, grading and paving Morrison Avenue in the City
of Salina, Kansas from the east line of Eleventh otreet to the west
line of Twelfth otreet in said City, there are hereby levied and assess-
ed on the property liable therefor, being all of the lots and pieces
of ground lying on either side of said Morrison Avenue for the distance
improved as aforesaid to the center of the block on either side thereof,
according to the appraised value of such lots and pieces of ground
without regard to the buildings or improvements thereon, special
assessments covering the cost of such work and improvements, said
special assessments being based on the special valuation and appraise-
ment of said lots and pieces of ground heretofore made by three dis-
interested appraisers appointed by the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Salina,.xansas, which said appraisement is hereby referred to
and made a part of this ordinance and the several amounts levied,
apportioned and assessed against each of said lots and pieces of ground
for the purpose"aforesaid are hereby found and determined to .be as fo

Said amounts levied, apportioned and assessed
aforesaid, shall be due and collectible in ten equal install-
ments, the first becoming due with the taxes levied for the
year 1923 and one of said installments falling due each and
every year thereafter until all are paid, and all to be collect-
ed with interest as in this ordinance provided; PROVIDED,
that the owner of any piece of property liable for any such
assessment may redeem his property from such liability by paying
into the City Treasury the entire amount ehargeableagainst the
same as in this ordinance designated,.at any time within thirty
days after the publication of this ordinance and before the
issurance of the bonds of said City in payment.of the balance of
said improvements, and his property so paid on shall not there-
after be liable for any further assessments for the cost of
said improvements, nor for any part of said bonds,
Section 3. There is hereby further levied and assessed
against each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinan-
ce 6$ interest per annum on all of said installments therein
mentioned from the date'of the bonds, which may be issued at
the end of thirty days, as specified in the preceding section
hereof, as by law procided to the time of collection of the
last installment, as provided by law, which said interest
shall be collected annually at the same time and in the same
manner as said installments are collected; and after .the taking
effect of this ordinance it shall be the duty of the City clerk
of said pity to annually, at the same time other taxes are
certified and until all of said assessments so apportioned and
levied -herein have been certified, to certify to the County
Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, a full list of all property
except such property on which the special assessments aforesaid
have been paid in full as hereinbefore provided, liable to
assessment and taxation for such work and improvement, together
with the respective amounts due on each of such lots and
pieces of ground, which amounts shall include the annual install
ments of such special assessments together with the interest
for one year at the rate of 6% per an -um, on all unpaid balances
of such assessments at the beginning of each such year as afore-
said and such amounts so certified as herein provided shall be
placed upon the tax roll by the Uounty clerk of Salina County,
Kansas, and collected as all other taxes are collected.
Section 4., This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication once in the official City
paper.

An Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the
City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering,
excavating, grading and paving MORRISON AVENUE in said City

Twelfth Street therein, and relating to and providing for the

BE IT uRDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
