An Ordinance relating -to waste and offensive matter, providing for
the care and disposal thereof and repealing Ordinance Number
2241"6f the"City 'of"'Shciva, Kansas.
BE.IT ORDAINED'by the board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
-Kansas:
Section 1 It''shall'be unlawful for any person to throw, place
or deposit; or leave or cause to be thrown, plaoed"or deposited or
left on any private premises within the City of Salina, except as
hereinafter provided'for, or in any of the public streets, highways,
alleys; 'lanes; l'ot's,' 'parka' or 'thdroizghfares of said City, any dirt,
filth", sewerage, sweepings, rakings, dung, excrement, compost, papers,
cans, stgbl"e' manure , boxes, leaves from trees, ashes, grass, weeds,
vegetables, slops or litter of any kind, from and after the taking
effe'et of this' ordinanbe'.
Section 2: All private premises in said City and the vacant
space in the -rear of, any business lot; house or mercantile establish-
ment'between the rear of"the'building and the alley, ... if any such
vacant space there be, shall; at all times, be 'kept -clean and clear
of"a11 of the matter set forth -in Section One (T)'"herein, and the oec-
upant or occupants on the ground floor of any business house of merean
tile establishment as set forth herein, shall'be and is;hereby charged
with the duty df -keeping said space clean, except such refuse or filth
as may be deposited by other occupants of such building, whose duty it
shall -be to remove the same.
Section 3'. It shall be ,the duty of the owner or the occupant
of the ground floor, if the same be not oceupied'by the owner, to keep

the ground -floor, and the space between the reat of' the building and
alley clean and free from matter enumerated in Section One (1).
Section 4. It shall'be the duty of"`every owner or occupant of
any residence, business house, hotel', boarding house, mercantile or
other business establishment witf_in"said'City to'within'"thirty (30)
days from the taking effect of'this'ordinance provide a tight reoep-
tacle"of metal in which to place or deposit all matter set forth in
Section One (1) hereof, and the contents of'all"such receptacles shall
be removed in a careful and cleanly manner from all business houses
restaurants, hotels, boarding houses, mercantile or other business
establishments in said City at least.onee each day and shall be re-
moved from all residences not less than once each week between the
lst days of October and April l of,each year, and not less than
twice each week between the 1st days of April and October of each year.
Al2 such receptacles shall be provided with fly -proof covers and
shall be kept closed except at such times as matter is being
placed therein or removed therefrom.
Section 5.- Any person, firm or corporation violating any
of the terms of this ordinance shall upon conviction be fined
in any sum not exceeding Fifty and no/100 Dollars ($50.00) and
be committed to the City Jail until such fine is paid.
Section 6. That Sections 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8 of ordinance
Number 2241 of the City of Salina, Kansas.be and the same are
hereby repealed.
Section 7. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and afterits publicationonce in the official
City paper.

BE IT ORDAIN10 by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas;

ashen, grass, weeds, vegatables, slops or litter of any kind,
from and after the taking effect of this ordinance.
Section 2. All private premises in said City and the vacant
space in the rear of any business lot, house or mercantile establishment
between the rea"C of the building and the alley, if any such vacant
space there be, shall, at all times, be kept clean and clear of all
of the matter set forth in Section 1 herein, and the occupant or
occupants or the ground floor of any business house or mercantile
establishment, as set forth herein, shall be and is hereby charged
with the duty of keeping said space clean, except such refuse of filth
as may be deposited by other occupants of such building, whose duty
it shall be to remove the same.
Section'3. it shall be the duty of the owner, or the occupant
of the ground floor, if the same be not occupied by the owner, to
keep the ground floor, and the space between the rear of the building
and alley clean and free from all matter enumerated in Section 1,
Section 4. It shall be the duty of every owner or occupant
of any residence, business house, hotel, boarding house, mercantile
or other business establishment within said. City to within thirty (30)
days from the taking effect of this ordinance provide a tight metal
receptacle in which to place or deposit all matter set forth in Section
One'(1) hereof, and the contents of all such receptables shall be
removed in a careful and cleanly manner from all business houses, res-
taurants, hotels, boarding houses, mercantile or other business estab-

l.shments in said City at least once each days and/,from all residences
not less than once each week between the first (lst� days of Act6ber
and April.of each year and not less than week between
