AN ORDINANCE confirming and ratifying a contract for the improve-
ment of certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas and
providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the
cost thereof, pending the issuance and sale of bonds for
the payment of the cost thereof.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina of the
proposal of H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred
to as the "Contractor" as submitted to the Board of Commissioners
on June 11th, 1928, which is hereby found and determined to be the
lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the
Board of Commissioners to said contractor, and signed on behalf
of the city by the Mayor on June 12th, 1928 for the improvement of

the following streets in the following manner to -wit:
Curbing and guttering, excavating, grading and paving of
North Street from the west line of Ninth Street to the east line
of Twelfth Street, as provided for and authorized by Ordinance No.
3532 said ��
, paving to be of 2�" V. F. Brick on 6 concrete base,,
The curbing and guttering of North side of Euclid Avenue
from the west line of i4lifth Street to the east line of Ninth Street,
as provided for and authorized by Ordinance No. 3533;
E all of said work to be done and performed at and for the unit
prices contained in said proposal for the kind of work provided for
as hereinabove set forth and as set forth in the ordinances herein-
above referred to, said contract and proposal being hereby referred
to and made a part of this ordinance, be and the same are hereby
ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated
cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimate of the City
Engineer filed in the office of the City Clerk on May 21st, 19280
which estimate is hereby referred to and made a part of this
ordinance.
Section 2. That said street improvements shall be built and
constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications therefor
prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office oft he City Clerk
and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the
terms of said contract entered into between the city and said con-
tractor on June 12th, 1928, which said plans, specifications, pro-
posal and contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this
ordinance, said work to be done and the material, equipment,
appliances and appurtenances necessary and required in connection
therewith to be performed and furnished in accordance with said plans
and specifications, conditioned however upon the furnishing by the
contractor of the contract, maintenance and statutory bonds within
the time required of said contract.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and
attested by the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the
work progresses in the manner and form as required by law, the
total amount thereof not to exceed the contract price for such
work, such notes to bear interest at 4-�-% per annum and to mature
not later than November lst, 1928, and to be issued in such
amounts and at such time as money for the payment of the cost of
such work may be required, such notes to be issued to said con-
tractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that permanent
bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication in the official city paper.
