ORDINANCE NO. 3547

AN ORDINANCE providing for and requiring the construction of cer-
tain sidewalks along certain streets in the City of Salina.
WHEREAS
petitions each duly signed by ten or more citizens
of the City of Salina, have been filed in the office of the City
Clerk, praying for the onstruction of sidewalks along the streets,
and in front of and abutting upon the property, mentioned in the
following ordinance, and
WHEREAS U
,, said petitions have been considered by the Board of
Commissioners of the City Of Salina and have been found to be
sufficient and the sidewalks hereinafter referred to are by said
Board of Commissioners deemed. to be necessary; NOIN THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED- by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That a concrete sidewalk five feet in width shall
be and the same is hereby ordered to be constructed and laid along
the east side of Twelfth Street between Iron Avenue and Walnut
Street in front of and abutting upon the west side of Lot Sixteen
(16) in Surveyor's Flat "B" and Lots six (6) to Twenty (20) in-
clusive, on Eleventh Street in Phillips Second Addition.
Section 2. That a concrete sidewalk five feet in width shall
be and the same is hereby ordered to be constructed and laid along
the east side of Ninth Street in front of and abutting upon the

west side of Lot 42 on ninth Street in the Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan
University.
Section 3.1 That a concrete sidewalk five feet in width shall
be and the same is hereby ordered to be constructed and laid along
the east side of Ninth Street in front of and abutting upon the west
side of Lot 30 on Ninth Street in the Grounds of the Kansas Weselyan
University.
Section 4. That a concrete sidewalk five feet in width shall
be and the same is hereby ordered to be constructed and laid along
the north side Of University Place, across the right-of-way of the
Missouri Pacific Railroad Company from the east line of said right-
of-way to the west line of said right-of-way, at its intersection
with University Place.
Section 5. That a concrete sidewalk five feet in width shall
be and the same is hereby ordered to be'constructed and laid along
the west side of Clark Street, in front of and abutting upon the
east side of Lots 2, 41 62 8 and 14, and the north half of Lot 10,
all in Block 13 in Leavenworth Addition.
Section 6. That a concrete sidewalk five feet in width shall
be and the same is hereby ordered to be constructed and laid along
the south side of Republic Avenue in front of and abutting upon
the north side of Lots 1 and 3 on Republic Avenue in the Addition
of the Kansas Wesleyan University Grounds, and across the right-of-
way of the Union Pacific Railroad Company at its intersection with
Republic Avenue.

Section 8. That the sidewalks provided for in the preceding
sections of this ordinance shall be constructed and laid in accord-
ance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 2407 and Ordinance No. 3509
and in accordance with the plans and specifications for concrete
sidewalks on file in the office of the City Engineer and in the office
of the City Clerk, pursuant to the provisions of said 4-dinance
No. 3509, which plans and specifications have been and are now here-
by approved, the same to be constructed at the grade to be furnished
by the City Engineer.
Section 9. That the owners of each of the lots and parcels of
land described in the preceding sections of this ordinance be and
they are hereby ordered to construct in front of and abutting upon
said lots or parcels of land, and along the streets hereinabove men-
tioned, concrete sidewalks as above provided for, and if any one of
then shall fail within 15 days from and after the publication of this
ordinance to construct such sidewalks, the City Engineer shall prepare
and file with the City Clerk detailed estimates under oath of the cost
of constructing such sidewalks and the Board of Commissioners 6f said
citY: shall proceed to construct or cause to be constructed such side-
walks as herein provided for and may let a contract therefor, at a
cost not to exceed the estimate of the City Engineer, and shall assess
the cost thereof against such lots or parcels of land upon which such
sidewalks shall abutt, according to the front foot thereof, and such
cost so assessed shall be duly certified by the City Clerk to the
County Clerk of Saline County to be collected as other taxes and assess-
ments are collected..
Section 10. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its publication once in the official city paper.

the,north side of Prescott Avenue in front of and abutting upon
the south side of Lots 71 8 and 9 in Block B in
South Park Subdivision No. 1.
Section 8. That the sidewalks provided for in the preceding
sections of this ordinance shall be constructed and laid in accord -
ante with the provisions of ,Ordinance No. 2407 and Ordinance No. 3,509
and in accordance with the plans and specifications for concrete
sidewalks on file in the office of the City Engineer and in the
office of the City Clerk, pursuant to the provisions of said Ordinance'
No. 3509, which plans and specifications have been and are now here-
by approved,_the.same to,be',constructed at the grade to be furnished
by the City Engineer.
