An Ordinance providing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the
City of Galina, Eansas in the sum of $6,524.56 to pay the cost
of improving a certain street in said City.
WHEREAS. in pursuance of proceedings duly had according to law,
contracts have been let and performed for the excavating, grading and
paving all of the unpaved portion of Santa Fe Avenue in the center of
the Street now occupied by the tracks of The Salina Street Railway
Company, lying south of the.south line.of.VJalnut Street and a point
two hundred (200) feet south of South Street in said City, and
WHEREAS, the portion thereof to be paid by special assessments
levied upon the lots and pieces of ground liable therefot has been
ascertained and is hereby found and. determined to be the sum of
X8,578.95 which said last amount has been heretofore duly assessed
and apportioned to the several lots and pieces of ground on such
street liable therefor, payable in.ten equal annual installments a-
ccording to law and as provided for in ordinances of the City of
Salina, r'_ansaa duly passed and approved, and
WHEREAS, the amount of said special assessments for which bonds
are to be issued as herein provided for in anticipation of said
special assessments which remain unpaid has been ascertained and is
hereby determined and found to be the sum of $6,524.56, the difference
between said last two named amounts having been paid by the property
owners of said above named street whose property has been discharged
from any further assessments for the cost of said improvements in
the amount to be paid, NOW TIiEREFOR,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas ;
Section 1. That the cost of such said improvements, after
deducting therefrom the assessments heretofore naid thereon as afore-
said, shall be paid.in ten equal annual installments instead of levying
the entire cost at one time; the first installment of which is to be paid
with the taxes for the ,year 1923 and one installment with the taxes
for each succeeding ,year thereafter until the whole amount thereof
shall have been paid and that for such installments there shall be and
are hereby issued Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Y.ansas in
the aggregate sum of X6,524.56 as hereinafter provided.

Section 2. Said issue of bonds shall consist of one (1)
bond of the denomination of $674.56, and the remaining nine (9)
bonds shall be in denomination of Six Hundred Fifty and no/100
Dollars ($650.00) each, all bearing interest at the rate of
four and three-fourths per cent (44/6) per annum, interest pay-
able semi-annually on the first days of February and August
of each ,year, after the date of said bonds except that the
first interest payment shall be due and payable on the first
day of February 1924.
Said bonds shall be numbered, in amount due each ,year,
and mature as follows:

Section 3. Said bonds shall be signed by the Mayor and
attested by the Clerk of the City of Salina, Kansas, and shall
have the corporate seal of said City attached thereto. Interest
coupons to said bonds shall be signed by said Clerk and both
bonds and coupons shall be paid at the Fiscal Agency of the
State of Kansas in the City of Topeka, Kansas.
Section 4. Said bonds shall be executed in the, form and
shall contain recitals substantially as follows:

KNOWN ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That the City of Galina in
the County of Saline and State of Kansas, for value received here-
by acknowledges itself to be indebted and promises to pay the sum
of w in lawful money of the United.States of America on
the Ist aay of February A. L. 19 , with interest at the rate of
four and three-fourths (44) per cent per annum, the first in-
stallment of which shall be payable February 1st, 1924 and
interest payable semi-annually thereafter until the principal
sum shall have been paid, upon the presentation and surrender of
the proper interest coupon hereto attached, bearing the signature
of the Clerk of said City, as they severally become due and
payable. Both principal and interest are payable at the fiscal
agency of the State of Kansas in the City of Topeka, Kansas; and
the City of Salina, Kansas is held and firmly bound and its
faith and credit and all real and personal property in said
City are hereby pledged for the prompt payment of the principal
and interest of this bond upon its maturity.
This bond is one of a series of bonds of like date and tenor
issued by the said City of Salina, Kansas to pay for street im-
provements in and for said City under and by the authority of and
in compliance with the provisions of the laws of the State of
Kansas governing cities of the first class, and in compliance
with an ordinance duly and legally passed by the Board of Coin-
missioners of said City on the day of , 1923.
And it is hereby declared and certified that all acts, con-
ditions and things required to be done and to exist precedent to
and in the issuance of this bond, have been properly done and
performed and do exist in regular form as required by the consti-
tution and laws of the State of Kansas and.that the total indebt-
edness of said City including this series of bonds does not
exceed any constitutional or statutory limit.
IN WITNFSS VMEHEOF, said City.of Salina by its Board of
Commissioners has caused this bond to be signed by its Mayor and
attested by its Clerk and its corporate seal is hereto attached..

Section 6. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized,
directed and empowered without unnecessary delay, to prepare and
execute said bonds and coupons as in this ordinance provided and ,
when executed said bonds shall be registered with the Clerk of
the City of Salina, Kansas and.with the Auditor of the State of
Kansas, as required by law, and shall be by the Iulayor of said City
delivered to the contractor or contractors constructing such im-
provements in proportion to the amounts due such contractor or

contractors for said work and improvements.
Section 7. Said Board of Commissioners shall make
provisions for the payment of the principal and interest on
said bonds as the same becomes due and payable by levying a
tax on the property liable therefor.
Section 8. This ordinance shall take effect and be
in full force from and after its publication once in the
official City paper.

An Ordinance providing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds
of the City of Salina, Kansas in the sum of $6,524.56
to pay the cost of improving a certain street in said
City.
WHEREAS, in pursuance of proceedings duly had according

the sum of $81,578.95 which said last amount has been heretofore
duly assessed and apportioned to the several lots and pieces
of ground on such street liable therefor, payable in ten equal
annual installments according to law and as provided for in
ordinances of the City of Salina, Kansas duly passed and ap-
proved, and
WHEREAS, the amount of said special assessments for which
bonds are to be issued as herein provided for in anticipation
of said special assessments which remain unpaid has been ascer-
tained and is hereby determined and found to be the sum of
$6,524.56, the difference between said last two named amounts
having been paid by the property owners of said above named

BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners -of the City of
Salina, Kansas:
