An Ordinance relating to the expiration of the franchise of The
Salina Water Works Company.
WHEREAS. according to the terms and provisions of Ordinance No.
372 of the City of Salina, Kansas passed and approved upon the 20th
day of Iviarch, 1883 there was granted to The Salina Water Works Company,
its successors'and assigns a certain right and privilege to supply
water to the City of Salina, Kansas and its inhabitants, all as set
out and provided for therein, and
WHEREAS, according to the terms and provisions of said Ordinance
No. 372 the City of Salina, Kansas reserved to itself certain privileges
providing for the purchase of said plant and equipment, all as set
forth therein, and
WHEREAS, in Section 8 of said Ordinance there is also contained
the following provision, to -wit: "And in case the City of Salina does
not purchase and become the owner of said water works at the end of
twenty years, then all of the rights and privileges granted to the said
'Salina Water Works Company, its successors and assigns, shall be extended
for another period of twenty years, subject to the right of the City to
purchase the same as aforesaid at any time thereafter, and subject to
the same duties, liability, obligations and penalties as herein provided
for," and.
WHEREAS, said plant and equipment was not so pur chased by said
City of Salina and said franchise was so extended for an additional
period, which said franchise so extended as aforesaid together with all
rights and privileges of The Salina Water Works Company, its successors
and assigns therein and thereunder will expire on the 22nd day of P.1arch,
1923, NOVI THEREFOR,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Sans
Section 1. That the franchise of The Salina Water Works Company,
its successors and assigns to supply water to the City of Salina and its
inhabitants, together with all of the rights and privileges as provided
for and defined under and according to the terms of said Ordinance No.
3721.of the City of Salina, shall in every respect, absolutely cease,
terminate and expire upon the 22nd day of March, 1923 and shall not
thereafter be of any force, validity or effect whatsoever.
Section 2. '-this ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication once in the official City paper.

ORDINANCE NO. �Q
An Ordinance relating to the expiration of the franchise of The
Salina Vater Works Company.
WHEREAS, according to the terms and provisions of Ordinance
No. 372 of the City of Salina, Kansas, passed and approved upon
the 20th day of March, 1883, there was granted to The Salina Water
Works Company, its successors and assigns, a certain right and
privilege to supply water to the City of Salina, Kansas and its
inhabitants, all as set out and provided for therein, and
WHEREAS, according to the terms and provisions of said
Urdinance No. 372, the City of Salina, Kansas reserved to itself
certain privileges, providing for the.purehase of said plant and
equipment, all as therein set forth, and
WHEREAS, in Section No. Eight (8) of said Ordinance there
also is contained the following provision, to -wit:
"And in case the City of Salina does not purchase and
become the owner of said water works at the end of
twenty years, then all of the rights and privileges
granted to the said Salina Water Works Company, its
successors and assigns, shall be extended for another
period of twenty years, subject to the right of the
City to purchase the same as aforesaid at any time there-
after, and subject to the same duties, liabilities, obli-
gations and penalties as herein provided for." and
WHEREAS, said plant and equipment was not so purchased by
said City of Salina and said franchise was so extended for an
additional period, which said franchise so extended- as aforesaid.
,together with all rights' and privileges of the Salina Nater Works
Company, its successors and assigns therein and thereunder will
expire on the 22nd day os Diarch, 1923s NOVI THEREFOR,
BE IT ORDIDED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Salina, Y�,ansas.
Section 1. That the franchise of The Salina ,eater Works
Company, its successors and assigns to supply water to the City
of Salina and its inhabitants, together with all of the rights and
privileges as provided for and defined under and according to the
terms of said ordinance No. 372 of the City of Salina, shall in
every respect, absolutely cease, terminate and expire upon the 22nd
day of Mlarch, 1923 and shall not thereafter be of any forcer
validity or effect whatsoever.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication once in the official Uity paper.
