An Ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be
used and letting..a contract for the excavating, grading,
park -curbing and paving of ASH STREET- in the City of Salina,
Kansas from the east line of Penn Avenue to the west line
of Ohio Street in said City.
BE IT URDAlNED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Salina, Yansas:
Section 1. That it is hereby determined that ASti STREET in
the City of Salina, 1iansas from the east line of Penn Avenue to
the west line of Ohio Street in said. City shall.be paved with one -
course vitrified vertical fiber plain wire cut brick, not less
than three (3) inches deep, with.asphalt filler laid on a founda-
tion of five (5) inches in depth of Portland Cement gonerete base
with one (1) inch sand cushion, such pavement,.within the limits
above defined to be thirty-one (31) feet in..width excluding curb
and gutter and excluding ten (10) feet of parking in center of
Street.
Section 2. That it is hereby determined that the poking in
the center of ASH STREET in the City of Salina, Kansas from the
east line of Penn Avenue to the west line of Ohio Street in said
City shall be curbed with one-piece Portland Cement Concrete curb.
Said curb shall be six (6) inches thick at the top, seven (7)
inches thick at the bottom and fifteen (15) inches high.
Section 3. All excavating, filling and rolling necessary
for the proper construction of such improvements shall be done
and all of such improvements shall be made and done in strict
conformity to and in compliance with the plans and specifications
heretofore made by the City Engineer of Salina, Kansas and now on
file with the City Clerk of said City, which plans and specifica-
tions are hereby incorporated in and made a part hereof in all
respects as fully and completely as though written out at length
herein; which said plans and specifications are hereby adopted as
and for the plans and specifications of such work and improvements.
Section 4. That a contract is hereby awarded to M. R. Amer-
man for the excavating, grading, park -curbing and paving the above
mentioned street in the limits aforesaid with the materials herein-
before specified, for the paving actually laid and put in place
and for the labor actually performed and materials actually fur-
nished at the following prices: For excavating and grading seventy
cents (70�) per cubic yard; for Portland Cement Concrete curb for-
ty cents (40¢) per lineal foot and for paving actually laid and
put in place Three and 18/100 Dollars ($3.18) per. squard- yard.
All of said work shall be paid for according to the measurement made
by the City Engineer of the City of Salina. It is hereby determined
and found that the prices to be paid for. the improvements as afore-
said is -less than the estimated prices of each and all of said improve-
ments as no,.m on file with the City Clerk of the City of Salina, Kansas.
Section 5. Such contract is awarded upon the express condition
that such work and improvements shall be done in strict accordance
with and in compliance with the plans and specifications of the City
Engineer therefor, which plans and specifications are hereby made a
part of this ordinance and of the contract awarded, and upon further
conditions among others that the person to whom said contract is awarded
shall furnish to the City of Salina a surety company bond in the approx-
imate sum of the cost of such of such improvements-, guaranteeing the
prompt, proper and workmanlike construction of all the same together
with a surety company bond guaranteeing such pavement against all de-
feats in material and workmanship for a period of five (5) years from
the date of its completion and acceptance by said City; and said contract
is awarded upon a further condition that said M. R. Amerman shall furnish
the City of Salina a good and sufficient surety company bond guaranteeing
said curb against all defects in material and workmamship for a period
of two (2) ,years from the date of its completion and acceptance of such
work by the City; together with a good and sufficient surety company
bond running to the State of Kansas in an amount approximately equal
to the contract price of said improvements and conditioned that said
M. H. Amerman shall pay all indebtedness for labor and material furnished
in making the improvements provided for herein.
Section 6. The Board of Commissioners of the City of nalins.
are hereby authorized to make and enter into on behalf of said City
all written agreements necesse.ry in order to secure the construction
of the improvements herein provided for.
Section 7. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication once in the official City.paper.

BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Conmiissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That it is hereby determined that Ash Street
in the City of Salina, Kansas from,the east line of Penn Avenue
to the west line of Ohio Street in said City shall be paved with
