An Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assess-
ments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the Uity of Salina,
Kansas to pay the cost of re -curbing and guttering Santa Fe
Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas from the south line of
Walnut Street to the north line of Ivulberry Street, in said City,
and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of
such assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. For the purpose of paying for the cost of re -Curbing
and guttering Santa Fe Avenue in the City of Salina,K ansas from the
south line of Walnut Street to the north line of Mulberry street in
said City, there are hereby levied and assessed on the property liable
therefor, being all of the lots and pieces of ground lying on either
side of said Santa Fe Avenue for the distance improved as aforesaid to
the center of the block, according to the appraised value of such lots
and pieces of ground, without regard to the buildings or improvements
thereon, special assessments covering the cost of such work and improve-
ments, said special assessments being based on the special valuation and
appraisement of said lots and pieces. of ground heretofore made by three
disinterested appraisers appointed by the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Salina, Kansas, which said appraisement is hereby referred to
and made a part of this ordinance, and the several amounts levied,
apportioned and assessed against such lots and pieces of ground for
the purpose aforesaid are hereby found and determined to be as follows:

Section 2. Said amounts levied, apportioned and assessed afore-
said shall be due and collectible in ten equal installments, the first
becoming due with the taxes levied for the year 1925 and one of said
installments falling due each and every year thereafter until all are
paid, and all to be collected with interest as in this ordinance pro-
vided, provided however, that the owner of any piece of property
liable for any such assessment may redeem his property from such lia-
bility by paying into the City Treasury the entire amount chargeable
against the same, as in this ordinance designated, at any time within
thirty days after the publication of this ordinance and before the
issuance of the bonds of said City in payment of the balance of said
improvements, and his property so paid on shall not thereafter be
liable for any further assessments for the cost of said improvements,
nor for any part of said bonds.
Section 3. There is hereby further levied and assessed against
each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance 44% interest
per annum on all of said installments therein mentioned from the date
of the bonds, which may be issued at the end of thirty days, as spec-
ified in the preceding section hereof, as by law provided to the time
of collection of the last installment, as prcvided by law, which said
interest shall be collected annually at the same time and in the same
manner as said installments are collected; and after the taking effect
of this ordinance it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of said. City
to annually, at the same time other taxes are certified and until all
of said assessments so apportioned and levied herein have been certi-...
fied, to certify to the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas a full
list of all property liable to assessment and taxation for such work
and improvements, except such property on which the special assess-
ments aforesaid have been paid in full as hereinbefore provided, to-
gether with the respective amounts due on each of such lots and pieces
of ground, which amounts shall include the annual installments of such
special assessments, together with the interest for one year at the
rate of 4a% per annum on all unpaid balances of such assessments at
the beginning of each such ,year as aforesaid, and such amounts so
certified as herein provided shall be placed upon the tax roll by
the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas and collected as all other
taxes are collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication once in the official City paper.

An Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special

Salina, Kansas:

Salina, Kansas from the south line of Walnut Street to the

ments, the first becoming due with the to xes-levied for the

VIDEDP that the owner of any piece Of Property liable for any
such assessment may rodeem his property from such liability
by paying into the City Treasury the entire amount chargeable
against the -same, as in this ordinance designated,, at any time
within thirty days after the publication of this ordinance
and before the issuance of the bonds of said City in payment
of the balance of said improvements, Rnd his property so paid

bonds.
Section 30 There is hereby further levied and assessed
against each lot and piece of Si,ound described in this ordin-

mentioned from the date of the bonds., which may be issued at
the end of thifty days, as specified in the preceding section
hereof, as by'law provided to the time of collection of the
last installment, as provided by law, which said interest shall
be collected annually at the same time and in the same manner
as said installments are collected; and after the taking effect
of this ordinance it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of
said City to annually at the s ame time other taxes are certi-
fiedo and until all of saidassessmentsso apportioned and
levied herein have been cert"fied, to certify to the County
Clerk of Saline County, Iransac, a full list Of a 11 property
liable to assessment and taxation for such work and imProvemen-'6,
except such property on which the special assessments afore-
said have been paid in full as horeinbefore provided, to-

installments of such special assessments together with the
interest for one year at the rate of4j% per annum, on all
unpaid balances of such assessments at the beginning of ea(th

herein provided shall be placed upon the tax roll by the
Nowity Clerk of Saline Countyp Kansas, and collected as all
other taxes are collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and after its publication once in the official
City paper
