3126 Improving Santa Fe Avei in the Salina Daily Union An Ordinance spe.cifying.and selecting.the paving material to be used and letting a contract for the excavating, grading and paving the alley running north and south between Santa Fe Avenue and Seventh Street in the City of Salina, Eansas,.from the south line of Walnut Street, south 225 feet.in said City. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That it is hereby determined that the alley running north and south between Santa Fe Avenue and seventh Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the south line of Walnut street south 225 feet in said City shall be paved with Fortlend Cement Re-inforced Concrete, one course, six inches thick and such pavement within the limits above' defined to be ten feet in width, as provided for in accordance with the plans and specifications of the City Engineer of said City. Section 2. All excavating, filling and rolling necessary for the proper construction of such improvement shall be done and all of such improvements shall be made and done in strict .conformity to and in compliance with the plans and specifications heretofore made by the City Engineer of Salina, Kansas and now on file with the City Clerk of said City, which plans and specifications are. hereby incor- porated in and made a part hereof in all respects as Hilly and com- pletely as though written out at length herein, .which said plans and specifications are hereby adopted as and for the plans. and specifica- tions of such work and improvements. Section 3. That a contract is hereby awarded to L. W. hexroad for the excavating, grading and paving the above mentioned alley in the limits aforesaid with the materials hereinbefore specified, for the paving actually laid and put in place, for the labor actually performed and materials actually furnished at the following prices: - F'or excavating and grading, 70� per cubic yard and for paving actu- ally laid and put in place 02.03 per square ,yard. All of said work shall be paid for according to the measurement made by the City Eng- ineer of the City of Salina. It is hereby determined and found that the prices to be paid for the improvements as aforesaid is less than the estimated prices of each and all of said improvements as now on file with the City Clerk of the City of Salina, Kansas. Section 4. Such contract is awarded upon the express condition that such work and improvements shall be done in strict accordance with and in compliance with the plans and specifications of the City Engineer therefor, which plans and specifications are hereby made a part of this ordinance and of the contract awarded, and upon further conditions among others that the person to whom said contract is awarded shall furnish to the City of Salina a. surety company bond in the approximate sum of the cost of such improvements, guaranteeing the ptompt, proper and workmanlike .construction of all the same together with a surety company bond guaranteeing such pavement against all de- fects in material and workmanship for a period of five years from the date of its completion and acceptance by said City; together with a good and sufficient surety company bond running to the "tate of Kansas in an amount approximately equal to the contract price of said improve- ments and conditioned that said L. W. nexroad shall pay all indebted- ness for labor and material furnished in making the improvements pro- vided for herein. Section 5. The Board of Commissioners of the City- of Salina are hereby authorized to make and inter into, on behalf of said pity, all written agreements necessary in order to secure the construction of the improvement herein provided. Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication once in the official City paper. Introduced for first reading, June 29th, 1925.
