3008 Levy AssessmentsAn Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assess- ments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas tor pay the cost of excavating, grading and paving all of the unpaved portion of Sante. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of balina, Kansas: Section 1. Said amounts levied, apportioned and assessed aforesaid shall be due and collectible in ten equal installments, the first becoming due with the taxes levied for the year 1924, and one of said installments falling due each and every year thereafter until all are paid, and all to be collected with int- erest as in this ordinance provided; Provided However, that the owner of any piece of property liable for any such assessment may redeem his property from such liabilii_ty by paying into the City Treasury the entire amount chargeable against the same, as in this ordinance designated, at any time within thirty days after the publication of this ordinance and before the issuance of the bonds of said City in payment of the balance of said improvements, and his property so paid on shall not thereafter be liable for any further assessments for the cost of said improvements nor for any part of said bonds. Section 3. There is hereby further levied and assessed against each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance four and three-quarters per cent (4-'_3/4%) interest per annum on all of said installments therein mentioned from the date of the bonds, which may be issued at the end of thirty days, as specified in the preceeding section hereof as by law provided, to the time of collection of the last installment, as provided by law, which said interest srall.be collected annually at the same time and in the same manner as said installments are collected; and after the taking effect of this ordinance it shall be the duty of the Uity Ulerk of said City to annually, at the same:.time other taxes are certified and until all of said assessments so appor- tioned and levied herein have been certified, to certify to the County Clerk of Saline County, 1<.ansas, a full list of all property liable to assessment and taxation for such work and improvement, except such property on which the special assess- ments aforesaid have been paid in full as hereinbefore provided, together with the respective amounts due on each of such. lots and pieces of ground, which amounts shall include the annual installments of such special assessments together with the int- erest for one ,year at the rate of 4-3/4% per annum on all unpaid balances of such assessments, at the beginning -of each such year as aforesaid, and such amounts so certified, as herein provided shall be placed upon the tax roll by the county "lerk of oalina County, xansas and collected as all other taxes are collected. Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication once in the official City paper. Introduced for first reading, June 30th, 1924. Section 34There is hereby further levied and assessed, against each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance xinterest per annul: on all of said installments therein mentioned from the date of the bonds, which may be issued. at the end of thirty days, as specified in the preceding section hereof, as by ls.w provided, to the time of collection of the last installment, as provided by law, which said interest shall be collected annually at the sane tine anc- in the sarae manner as said installments are collected; and after the taking, effect of this ordinance it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of said City to annually, at the same time other taxes are o entified, and until all of said assessments so apportioned and levied here- in have been certified, to certify to the County Clerk_ of Saline Oounty, Kansas, a. full list of all property liable to assessment and taxation for such work and improvement, except such property on which the special assessments aforesaid have been paid. in full as hereinbefore provided, together with the respective amounts due on each of such lots and pieces of ground, which amounts shall 0 include the annual installments of such special assessments to - 4 -3/4% gether with the interest for one year at the rate of X% per annum, on all unpaid balances of such assessments at the beginning of each such year as aforesaid, and such amounts so certified as herein provided,shall be placed upon the tax roll by the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas and collected as all other taxes are collected, Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication once in the official City paper.
