Ali ORDINANCE confirming and ratifying a contract for the improvement
of certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas and providing
for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof as
the work progresses, pending the issuance and sale of bonds for
the payment of the cost thereof as provided by law.

BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City Of Salina of the
proposal of H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to
as the "Contractor" which is hereby found and determined tobe the lowest
and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of
Commissioners to said contractor, and signed on behalf of the City by
the Mayor on June 28th, 1927 for the improvement of the following streets
in the following manner, to -wit:
The excavating, grading and paving of Crestview Drive from the
west line of Marymount Road to the west line of Hilldale Road, as pro-
vided for by Ordinance Number 3392, said paving to be of 2-1 inch brick

paving on 5 inch concrete base.
The excavating, grading and paving of East Park Lane from
the north line of Crestview Drive to the south line of Country Club
Road, as provided for by Ordinance Number 3393, said paving to be 22
inch brick paving on 5 inch concrete base.
The excavating., grading and paving of West Park Lane from the
north line of Crestview Drive to the south line of Country Club Road,
as provided for by Ordinance Number 33940 said paving to be 21 inch

brick paving on 5 inch concrete base.
The curbing and guttering, excavating, grading and paving of
Twelfth Street from the south line of Iron Avenue to the north line
of lolalnut Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 3395, said paving
to be of 212 inch brick paving on 5 inch concrete base.

The curbing and guttering, excavating, grading and paving of
Ninth Street from the north line of Otis Avenue to the north line
of Inez Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 3399, said paving
to be of 27 inch brick paving on 5 inch concrete base. All of said
work to be done at and for the unit price contained in said proposal
for the kind of work provided for as hereinabove set forth and as
set forth in the ordinance hereinabove referred to, which contract is
hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, be and the same
are hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the said
cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimate of the City
Engineer filed in the office of the City Clerk on June 23rd, 1927, which

estimate is hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.

Section 2. That said street i,-:provements shall be built and
constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications therefor
prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk
and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the
terms of said contract entered into between the City and said con-
tractor on June 28th, 1927, which said plans, specifications, proposal
and contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance,
said work to be done and the material, -equipment, appliances and
appurtenances necessary and required in connection therewith to be
performed and furnished in accordance with said plans and specifi-
cations, conditioned however upon the furnishing by the contractor
of the contract, maintenance and statutory bonds within the time
required of said contract.
Section 3, That temporary notes signed by the payor and
attested by the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the
work progresses in the manner and form as required by law, the total
amount thereof not to exceed the contract price for such work, such
notes to bear interest 42% per annum and to mature not later than
liovember 1. 1927 and to be issued in such amounts and at such time
as money for the payment of the cost of such work may be required,
such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and
cancelled at the time that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication in the official city paper.
