2999 Improving Santa Fe Ave0 An Ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be used and letting a contract for the excavating, grading, and paving of all of the unpaved portion of 'Santa Fe Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas, in the enter of said Santa Fe avenue as now occupied by the tracks of the Salina Street Railway Company, from the south line of Beloit Avenue thence south to Claflin Avenue in said City.0 BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That it is hereby determined that all of the unpaved portion of Santa Fe avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas, in the center of said Santa Fe Avenue as now occupied by the tracks of the Salina Street Railway Company, from the south line of Beloit Avenue thence south to Claflin Avenue shall be paved with one course vertical fiber plain wire out brick, not less than three (3) inches deep, with asphalt filler laid on a foundation of five (5) inches in depth of rortland Cement Concrete base with one (1) inch sa nd cushion, such pavement within the limits above defined to be Eight (8) feet in width. Section 2. All excavating, filling and rolling necessary for the proper construction of such improvements shall be done and all of such improvements a shall be made and done in strict conformity to and in compliance with the plans and specifications heretofore made by the City Engineer of Salina, Kansas and now on file with the City Clerk of said City, which plans and speci- fications are hereby incorporated in and made a part hereofin all respects as fully and completely as though written out at length herein; which said plans and specifications are hereby adopted as and for the plans and specifications of such work and improvements. Section 3. That a contract is hereby awarded to C. P. Bar- rington for the paving, excavating and filling of the above mentioned street in the limits aforesaid with the materials hereinbefore specified, for the paving actually laid and put in place, for the labor actually performed and the material actually furnished at the following prices: For excavating and grading One and No/100 Dollars ($1.00) per cubic yard; for paving actually laid and put in place Three and 98/100 Dollars ($3.98) per square yard. gill of said work shall be paid for according to the meas- urements made by the City Engineer of the'City of Salina. It is hereby determined 9nd found that the prices to be paid for the improvements as aforesaid is less than the stimated prices of such improvements as now on file with the City Clerk of the City of Salina, Kansas. Section 4. Such contract is awarded upon the express con- dition that such work and improvements shall be done in strict accordance with and in compliance with the plans and specification of the City Engineer therefor, which plans and specifications are hereby made a part of this ordinance and of the contract awarded, and upon further conditions among others that the person to whom said contract is awarded shall furnish to the City of Salina a surety Company Bond in the approximate sum of the cost of such im- provements, guaranteeing the prompt, proper and workmanlike con- struction of all the same together with a surety company bond guaranteeing such pavement against all defects in material and workmanship for a period of five (5) years from the date of its completion and acceptance by said City, and said contract is awarded upon a further condition that said person shall furnish a good and sufficient surety company bond running to the State of Kansas in an amount approximately equal to the contract price of said improvements and conditioned that said C. P. Barrington shall pay all indebtedness for labor and material furnished in making the improvements provided for herein. Section 5. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina are hereby authorized to make and enter into on behalf of said City all written agreements necessary in order to secure the con- struction of the improvements provided for herein. Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication once in the official City paper.
