An ordinance amending Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2919 entitled,
"An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 2906 entitled, "An
Ordinance relating to salaries and compensation of offi-
cers and employees of the City o)f Salina, Kansas and
repealing Ordinance.No. 2425 of the City of Salina, Kan-
sas," and repealing such parts of Ordinance No. 2906 as
are in conflict herewith," and repealing said. original
Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2919:.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2919 be and
the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 1. The Chief of Police shall receive X1680.00 per

annum; e Assistant `'hief of Police, X1560.00 per annum
and all other police officers, including patrolmen, plain
clothes men and desk sergeants, excepting motorcycle police,
shall be paid in accordance with the following schedule,
to -wit:
Forthe first six months of their employment, such officers
shall receive a salary of from 4p80.00 per month to X5100.00
per month, depending upon their experience and fitness for
the position, the amount of such salary for said first six
months to be determined by the City h'ianager. After the
first six months of their employment, if their services
have been satisfactory and they are retained on the Police
Force, every such officer shall be entitled to an increase
in salary over and above the amount being paid to such
officer as at the end of his first six months perios, as
follows:
An increase of "w10.00 per month at the end of the said
first six months and. an increase of X10.00 per month
every six months thereafter until a salary of $110.00 per
month is reached, and then an increase of $5.00 per month
every six months until a salary of $120.00 per month is rea-
ched, and thereafter the salary of such officer shall be
X120.00 per month.
Provided however, that the rate of payment above provided,
and any increase in payment herein mentioned shall take
effect only when a police officer shall have been in the
continuous employ of the Police Department of the pity of
Salina for a period which would entitle him to such an in-
crease,"and pro vided further that such schedule shall not
be held to reduce the salary of any police officer now
in the employ of the Police Department, but that the salary
now paid to each officer shall remain in effect until such
time that such officer has been in the continuous service of
the Police Department, in accordance with the schedule
herein provided for for officers commencing at the rate of
00.00 per month, and provided further that nothing in
this ordinance shall effect or change the salaries now being
paid the Chief of Police, the Assistant Chief of Police or
the Motor Cycle Police now employed by the Police Department."
Section 2. That said. original Section 1 of Ordinance
No. .2919 .be and the same is hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and after its publication once in the official
City paper.

An Ordinance amending Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2919 entitled,
"An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 2906 entitled, "An
Ordinance relating to salaries and compensation of officers
and employees of the City of Salina, Kansas and repealing
Ordinance No. 2425 of the City of Salina, Kansas," and
repealing such parts of ordinance No. 2906 as are in con-

of Ordinance No. 2919•
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2919 be and the
same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 1. The Chief of Police shall receive $1680.00 per annum;

police officers, including patrolmen, plain clothes men and. desk
sergeants, excepting motorcycle police, shall be paid in accordance
with the following schedule, to -wit:
For the first six months of their employment, such officers
shall receive a salary of from $80.00 per month to $100.00 per
month, depending upon -,:heir experience and fitness for the posi-
tion, the amount of such salary for said first six months to be
determined by the City Manager. After the first six months of
their employment, if their service has been satisfactory and they
are retained on the Police Force, every such officer shall be
entitled to an increase in salary over and above the amount being
paid to such officer as at the end of his first six months period,
as follows:
An increase of $10.00 per month at the end of said first, six
months and an increase of x;510.00 per month every six months
thereafter until a salary of $110.00 per month is reached, and
then an increase of $5.00 per month every six months until a salary
of $120.00 per month is reached, and thereafter the salary of
such officer shall be $120.00 per month.
Provided, However, that the rate of payment above provided, and
any increase in payment herein mentioned shall take effect only
when a police officer shall have -been in the continuous employ
of the Police Department of the Uity of Salina for a period which
would entitle him to such an increase, and provided further, that
such schedule shall not be held to reduce the salary of any police
officer now in the employ of the Police Department, but that the
salary now paid to each officer shall remain in effect until such
officer shall be entitled to an increase, based upon the length of
time that such officer has been in the continuous service of the
Police vepartment,'in accordance with the schedule herein provided
for for officers commencing at the rate of $80.00 per month, and

change the salaries now being paid the Chief of Police, the
Assistant Chief of Police or the Motor cycle Police now employed
by the Police Department."
Section_ 2. That said original Section 1 of Ordinance No.
2919 be and the same is hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication once in the official City
paper.
