3302 Street Lighting 7th StreetPublis AN ORDINANCE providing for the constructing, installing, equipping and maintaining of a street lighting system of Seventh Street between the north ,line of Ash Street and the sou line o Elm Street, ancl'authorizing'a contract for the construction, installation and equipment of such street lighting system, a and providing for the levying and assessment of special assessments against the property abutting upon the street so improved for the Ppayment of such cost. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That a special system of street lighting be con - strutted, installed, equipped and maintained on Seventh Street between the north line of Ash Street and south line of Elm Street in .the City of Salina, such system to consist.of what is commonly known as a White Way system of single light ornamental poles at intervals on either side of such street, the same to be constructed, installed and equipped in accordance with the plans and specifications of the City Engineer, filed in the office of the City Clerk on October 4th, 1926, which are hereby made a part of this ordinance, and maintained by the city at large as provided by law. Section 2. That the contract for the .construction, installation and equipment of the special -street lighting.system provided for in Section One (1) of this ordinance', duly entered into between the City of Salina and the .United Power and Light Corporation on October 11th, 1926, which provides for the construction, installation and equipment of such lighting system by said corporation and for the sum of $315.00 be and the same is hereby approved and confirmed, the same being hereby found and determined to be less than the City Engineer's estimate of the cost thereof. Section 3. For the purpose of paying the cost of construct- ing, indttalling, and equipping said street lighting system, as pro- vided in Section One (1) oft his ordinance, which cost is hereby determined to be the sum of $315.00 the contract prive therefor as authorized by Section Two(2) of this ordinance, there is hereby levied and assessed against the property liable therefor being the lots and pieces of ground abutting upon said Seventh Street between the north line of Ash Street and the south line of Elm Street, according to the front foot thereof, special assessments covering the cost of such work and improvements, and the several amounts apportioned and assessed against each of said lots and pieces of ground as aforesaid are hereby found and determined to be as follows: DESCRIPTION I FRONTAGE AM'T OF ASS'MT Seventh Street: (Original Town) Section 4. That said amounts levied, -apportioned and assessed as aforesaid, shall be due and collectible in ten equal 1 intallments, the first two becoming due with the taxes levied and assessed for the year 1927 and one each year thereafter until all are paid, all of the same to be collected with interest as in this ordinance provided; that the owner of any piece of property liable for any such assessment may redeem his property from such liability by paying into the City Treasury the entire amount chargeable against the same at any time within thirty days after the publication of this ordinance. Section 5.
