AN ORDINANCE specifying and selecting material letting a contract
for the construction of a lateral.storm.sewer in storm
sewer district No. 2 in conformity with provisions of
the Ordinance 3246 of the City.of Salina, passed and
approved May 17, 1926.
BE IT ORDAINED.BY THE.BOARD OF COMMISSIONERSOF THE CITY OF SALINA,
KANSAS.
Section 1. That is is hereby determined that a.lateral storm
sewer be constructed in lateral storm sewer district No. 2, as de-
fined in Ordinance No. 3246 of City of Salina, passedand approved
May 17, 1926, said storm sewer to be constructed.of..vitirfied sewer
pipe, with Prestite joints, in accordance with -the plans and speci-
fications of the City Engineer now on file.in .the office of City
Clerk, along the following course within said district and with the .
following materials, to -wit: Beginning at a.manhole.to be constructed
near the center line of Ash Street and approximately.279 feet east
of center line of Chicago Street; thence west along.the center line
of Ash Street as a 15 inch vitrified pipe sewer.to a manhole to be
constructed approximately 190 feet west of the. center line of
Chicago Street; thence continuing west along the center line of
Ash Street as a 21 inch vitrified pipe sewer approximately 680 feet
to an outlet in the east bank of Dry Creek; together with all nec-
essary inlets, inlet connections, manholes, head walls and all other
appurtenances as shown on the plans and specifications of the City
Engineer, and including all material and all labor necessary for the
construction thereof, and for all trenching and back filling, man-
holes, inlets, inlet connneetions head walls and other appurtenances
and all excavation required therefore, as provided in the plans and
specifications of said City Engineer.
Section 2. That all excavating and filling and all of the
labor performed or all material furnished for such work shall be
in strict conformity to and in compliance with the plans and speci-
fications therefore prepared by the City Engineer of City of Salina
and now on file with,the City Clerk of said City, which said plans
and specifications are hereby incorporated'and are made a part hereof
in all respects as fully and completely as though written out at
length herein, which said plans and specifications are hereby
adopted as and for the plans and specifications for such work and
improvements.
Section 3. That a contract is hereby awarded to C. T.
Snyder and C. A. Meilert, co-partners doing business as Snyder
and Meilert, for the construction of the lateral storm sewer de-
scribed in Section 1 of this ordinance., for the labor actually
performed and materials actually furnished at the following prices:
For 15 inch vitrified pipe sewer laid complete in trench ,
per lineal foot $1.60;
For 21 inch -vitrified pipe sewer laid complete in trench,
per lineal foot $2.90;
For trenching and back filling, including setting of trench
and removal of excess materials, per lineal foot, for the following
depths:
Up to 4 feet 30¢, 4 feet to 6 feet 40¢0 6 feet to 8 feet 50¢
8 feet to 10 feet 70�, 10 feet to 12 feet $1.00, 12 Peet to 14 feet
$1.75; Standard manholes complete asper plans, not exceeding 6 feet
in depth each $60; Standard manholes, additional for each foot of
depth over 6 feet, per foot $7.00; Standard inlets, complete as per
plans, each $25.00 Elan 1: 2: 4: concrete in head walls and rail-
road crossings, in place, per cubic yard, $25.00. All of said work
to be paid for according to the measurements made by City Engineer
of the City of Salina. It is hereby found and determined that the
price to be paid for the improvements as aforesaid are less than the
price of each and all of said improvements as shown by the sworn
estimate of the City Engineer now on file with the City Clerk.
Section 4. Such contract is awarded upon the express condition
that such work and improvements shall be, done in strict accordance
to and inc�compliance with the plans and specifications of City
Engineer therefor, which plans and specifications are hereby made
a part of this Ordinance and of the contract awarded, and upon the
express.conditions among others, that the persons to whom said con-
tract is awarded shall furnish to the City of Salina a Surety Bond
,in the approximate sum of the cost of such improvements, guaranteeing
the prompt, proper and workmanlike construction thereof, together
with.a Surety Bond guaranteeing the storm sewer so constructed against
all defects in materials or workmanship for a period of one year from
the date of the final acceptance thereof by the city; and together
with a Surety Bond running to the State of Kansas in an amount
approximately equal to the contract price of said improvements,
conditioned that said persons shall pay all indebtedness, for labor
and material furnished in making the improvements herein provided
for.
Section 5. That the Mayor of the City of Salina is hereby
authorized to make and enter into on behalf of said city all written
agreements necessary in order to secure the construction of the
improvements.herein provided for.
Section 6. ..This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force
from and after its publication once in the official city paper
