BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas: 11'
Section 1. That for the purpose of paying for the cost of ex-
cavating, grading and sa rfacing with sand clay Tenth Street in the City
of Salina, Kansas from the north line of Lincoln Avenue to the soath
line.of Grand Avenue; for the curbing, excavating, grading and surfac-
,ing with sand clay Lincoln Avenue.in the City of_Salina, Kansas from
the west line of Ninth Street to the west line of Tenth Street; and
for the excavating, grading and surfacing with sand clay Thirteenth
Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the north line of the Union
Pacific Right -of -Way. to the south line of Grand Avenue, there are
hereby levied and assessed on the property liable therefor, being all
of the lost and pieces of ground lying on either side of said streets
above mentioned for the distance improved as_aforesaid" to the center
of the block according to the appraised value of.. -.such lots and -pieces
of ground without regard to the buildings.or.improvements thereon,
special assessments covering the cost of such work and improvementy,
said special assessments being based on the special valuation and
appraisement of said lots and pieces of ground heretofore made by
three disinterested appraisers, appointed by the Board of Commissioners
of the City of Salina, Kansas, which said appraasement is hereby re-
ferred to and made a part of this ordinance, and the several amounts

Section 2. Said amounts, levied, apportioned and assessed as
a
aforesaid, shall be due and collectible in ten equal installments, the
first becoming due with the taxes levied for the year 1926 and oneof
said installments falling due each and every year thereafter until all
are paid, and all to be collected with interest as in this ordinance
provided; PROVIDED, that the owner of any piece ofpproperty 114ble for
any such assessment may redeem his property from such liability by payer
into the City Treasury the entire amount chargeable against the same,
as in this ordinance designated, at any time within thirty days after
the publication of this ordinance and before the issuance of the bonds
of said City in payment of the balance of said improvements, and his
property so paid on shall not thereafter be liable'for any further
assessments for'the cost of said improvements nor for any part of said
bonds.
Section 3. There is hereby further levied and assessed against
each lot and piece of ground desmribed.in_this ordinance _4z..per cent
interest per annum on all.of-daid installments therein mentioned
from the date of the bonds, which may be issued at the end of thJwty
days, as specified in the preceding section hereof, as by law pro-
vided to the time of collection of the last installment, as pro-
vided by law, which said intere.s.t shall be collected annually at
the same time and in the same manner as said installments are
collected; and after the taking effect of this ordinance it shall
be the duty of the City Clerk of said City 5o annually at the same
time other taxes are certified, and until all of said assessments
so apportioned and levied herein have been certified, to certify
to the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, a full list of all
property liable to assessment and taxation for.such work and
improvement except such property on which the special assessments
aforesaid have been paid in.full.as.hereinbefore provided, togeth-
er with the respective amounts due on each of such .lots and pieces
of ground, which amounts shall include the annual installments of
such special assessments together with the interest for one year at
the rate of 42 per cent per annum, on all unpaid balances of such
assessments at the beginning of each such year as aforesaid, and
such amounts so certified as herein provided shall be placed upon
the tax roll by the County Clerk of Saline County, -Kansas, and
collected as all other taxes are collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall -take effect -and be in full
force from and after its publication once in.the official City
paper.

Section 2. Said amounts, levied, apportioned and assessed
as aforesaid, shall be due and collectible in ten equal in-
stallments, the first becoming due with the taxes levied for the
year 19 2)L and one of sa id installments falling due each and
every year thereafter until all are paid, and all to be col-
lected with interest as in this ordinance provided; PROVIDED,
that the owner of any piece of property liable for any such
assessment may redeem his property from such liability by
paying into the City Treasury the entire.amount chargeable
against the same, as in tads ordinance designated, at any time
within thirty days after the publication of this ordinance and
before the issuance of the bonds of said City in payment of
the balance of said improvements, and his property so paid on
shall not thereafter be liable for any further assessments for
the cost of said improvements, no_ for any part of said bonds.
Section 3. There is hereby f urther.levied and assessed
against each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance 0,xi
psw e -e. interest per annum on all of said installments therein
mentioned from the date of the bonds, 4:hich may be issued at
the end of thirty days, as specified in the preceding section
hereof, as by law provided to the time of collection of the
last installment, as provided by law, which said interest shall
be collected annually at the same time and in the same manner
as said installments are collected; and after the taking effect
of this ordinance it.shall be the duty of the City Clerk of
said City to annually at the same time other taxes are certi-
fied, and until all of said assessments so apportioned and
levied herein have been certified, to certify to the County
Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, a full list of all property
liable to assessment and taxation for such work and improvement
except such property on which the special a ssessments afore-
said have been paid in full as hereinbefore provided, togeth-
er with the respective amounts due on each of such lots and
pieces of ground, which amounts shall include the annual in-
stallments of such special assessments together with the
interest for one year at the 'rate of'7/7at2W = .per
annum, on all unpaid balances of such a ssessments at the be-
ginning of each such yea_ as aforesaid, and such amounts so
certified as herein previded shall be placed upon the tax roll
by the County Clerk of' Saline County, Kansas, and collected
as all other taxes are collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take Affect and be in
full force from and after its publication once in the official
City paper,
