AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract for the construction
of new abutment and approach span for the south end of the
existing steel bridge over the Smoky Hill river at Ohio and
Elm Streets in the Cit, r of Salina, and providing for the
Issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending
the issuance and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina of the
proposal of J. E. Hed, hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor"
as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on March 9, 1931, which
is hereby found and determined to be the lowest and best bid for such
work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said
city to said contractor and signed on behalf of said city by its Mayor
on March 9, 1931, for the construction of Steel Column Type Abutment
and Approach Span for the south end of the existing bridge over the
Smoky Hill River at Ohio and Elm Streets, at and for the unit prices
contained in said proposal, .vhich proposal and contract are hereby
referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the same is here-
by ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated
f
cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City
Engineer filed in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are
hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance.
Section 2. That said improvements mentioned in Section One (1)
of this ordinance shall be built and constructed in accordance with
the plans and specifications therefor prepared by the City Engineer
and no-,%, on file in the office of the City 6lerk, and in accordance
with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms of said con-
tract, all of which are hereby referred to and made parts of this
ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested
by the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses
in the manner and form as required by lav,, the total amount thereof
not to exceed the contract price for such work, such notes to bear
interest not to exeeed 4-1/4/ per annum and to be issued in such
amounts and at such time as money for the payment of the cost of such
r ork may be required, such notes to be issued to said contractor and
to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that permanent bonds are issued
in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication in the official city, paper.
