AN ORDINANCE providing for the construction rf certain storm sewers j
in the Cite of Salina to be designated as ttnrm Severs No.
{ 21, 22 and 23, and providing for the issuing of imprnvement
bonds to pay the cost thereof.

BE IT ORDiLIIED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
f Secti^n 1. Storm Sewer No. 21. That it is necessary and it
is hereby ordered that a storm sewer which is hereby designated as
Storm Sewer No. 21, together with all necessary inlets, connections ;
and other appurtenances be constructed in the City of Salina along

the following course, to -.:,it:
Beginning at a manhole to be constructed in the intersectior_
cf Iron Avenue and Front Street; thence north in Front Street as
an 16" sewer approximately 412 feet to a manhole to be constructed
in the intersection of Johnstoirn Avenue and Front Street; thence
north as a 21" serer approximately 215 feet to a sluice gate man-
hole `;o be constructed in Johnstown Avenue; thence northIATesterly
as a 20" sewer approximately 24 feet to an outlet in the Smoky Bill
River, ?1-ogether with 15" overflo-�j connections between the proposed
sewer and existing sanitary sevr--,r manholes at Iron Avenue and
Johnstown Avenue.
Section 2. Storm Sewer No. 22.. That it is necessary and it
is hereby ordered that a storm sewer which is hereby designated as
Storm Sewer No. 22, together with all necessaryinlets, connections
and other appurter:q, ces be constructed in the City of Salina along
the follov.ing course, to -wit:
Beginning at a manhole to be constructed over the existing
2' x 3' combined sewer in Ash Street approximately 20 feet west
of the west end of Ash Street bridge over the Smoky Hill fiver;
thence northeasterly as a 42" se,°rer approx-imately 60 feet to an
outlet in the Smoky. Hill River.

Section 4. That on or before February 23, 1931, the Citv Engineer
shall prepare and file in the office of the City Clerk detailed plans
and specifications for the construction of the storm serers
provided for in Section 1, 2 and 3 of this ordinance, Trrith
segment block, vitrified, and concrete sewer pipe, and such
other t--pes of sevrers as said Engineer may deem advisable, and
on or before the same date shallnprepare and file in the office
of the City Clerk, under oath, detailed estimates of the cost
thereof. After such plans and specifications and estimates of
cost shall have been filed, as aforesaid, the City Clerk shall
advertise, by advertisements published in the official city paper
for at least three consecutive days, for sealed proposals for the
building and construction of such storm sewer, and at the time and
place mentioned, the Board of Commissioners may contract with the
lowest and best responsible bidder therefor, for the building
and construction of such storm sewers, but the rie-,ht to refect any
,,nd all proposals shall be and the same is hereby reserved, and any
contract awarded for such work shall provide for the furnishing by
such contractor of performance and maintenance bonds, and for a
statutory bond, in amounts equal to the full cost of such work,
which shall. be approved by the Board of Commissioners before any
such work shall be commenced.
Section 5. That for the pl:rpose of paying the cost of such
improvements, the Board of Commissioners shall issue improvement
bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in an amount not to exceed
the total cost of such 1;Gork and improvements, to be payable in
not to exceed ten approximately equal annual installments and
to bear interest at not to exceed 5% per annum from the date of
such fonds, and for the purpose of pairing such bonds and inter^st as
they severally mature, the Board of Commissioners shall annually
levy a tax upon all real and personal property in the City of
Salina in an amount sufficient to pay the annual installments of
such principal and interest, and that pending the Issue of such
bond, temporary notes shall be issued according to law, to pay
the cost of such it r rk.
Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication in the official city paper.

sewers in the City of Salina to be designated as Storm
Sewers No. 21, 22 and 23, and providing for the issuing
of, improvement bonds to pay the. cost thereof,.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
