AN ORDINANCE relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the
City of Sal na to pay the cost of curbing, guttering and
paving of Seventh Street from the north line of Elm Street
to the souTT line oT®rrth Street in the City of Salina,
Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection
and payment of such assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Oommissioners of the k'ity of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That for the purpose of paying for the cost of
curbing, guttering and paving Seventh Street from the north line
of Elm Street to the south line of North Street in the City of
Salina, Kansas, there are hereby levies; and assessed on the
pro�.erty liable therefor, being all the lots and pieces of ground
lying din either side of said street above mentioned for the distance
improved as aforesaid to the center of the block, according to the
appraised value of such lots and pieces of ground, without regard
to the buildings or improvements thereon, special assessments cover-
ing the cost of such work and improvements, said special assess-
ments being based on the special valuation and appraisement of said
lots and pieces of ground heretofore made by three disinterested
appraisers appointed by the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Salina, Kansas, which said appraisement is hereby referred to and
made a part of this ordinance, and the several amounts levied,
apportioned and assessed against such lots and pieces of ground
for the purpose aforesaid are hereby found and determined to be as
follows:

SEVENTH STREET FROM PINE STREET TO NORTH STREET
Section 2. Said amounts levied, apportioned and a ssessed
aforesaid shall b e due and collectible in ten equal installments,
the first becoming due with the taxes levied for the year 1930
and one of said installments falling due each and every year there-
after until all are paid, and all to be collected with interest as
in this ordinance provided; PROVIDED HOWEVER, that the owner of any
piece of property liable for any such assessment may redeem his property
from such liability by paying into the City Treasury the entire amount
chargeable against the same, as in this ordinance designated, at any
time within thirty days after the publication of this ordinance and
before the issuance of the bonds of said city in payment of the balance
of said improvements, and his property so paid on shall not thereafter
be liable for any further assessments for the cost of said improvements,
nor for any part of said bonds.

Section 3. There is hereby furhter levied and assessed
against each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance
412 per cent interest per annum on all of said installments therein
mentioned from the date of the bonds, which may be issued at the
end of thirty days, as specified in the preceding section hereof,
as by law provided, to the time of collection of the last install-
ment, as provided by lav, ,1rhich said interest shall be Collected
annually at the same time and in the same manner as said install-
ments are collected; and after the taking effect of this ordinance
it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of said city to annually,
at the same time other taxes are certified., and until all of said
assessments so apportioned and levied herein have been certified.,
to certify to the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, a full
list of all property liable to assessment and taxation for such
work and improvement, except such property ort which the special
assessments aforesaid have been paid in full as hereinbefore pro-
vided, together with the respective amounts due on each of such
lots and pieces of ground., which amounts shall include the annual
installments of such special assessments together with the interest
for one year at the rate of 42 per annum, on all unpaid balances of
such assessments at the beginning of each such year as aforesaid
and such amounts so certified as herein provided shall be placed
upon the tax roll by the County Clerk of Saline County, ansas and
collected as all other taxes are collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication once in the official city
paper.

An Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
