AN ORDINANCE providing for and authorizing the issuance of Improve-
ment Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of
$23,377.47, to pay the cost of improving certain streets
in said city.
WHEREAS, pursuant to proceedings duly had according to law, con-
tracts have been let and performed for the construction of the
following street improvements in said city, to -twit:
Curbing and guttering of Chicago Street from the south
line of State Street to the north line of Walnut Street;
Curbing, guttering and paving of Front Street from the
south line of Walnut Street, south to the Smoky Hill River;
Paving of Highland Circle from the south line of Ellsworth
Avenue to the north line of Beloit Avenue;
Curbing, guttering and paving Kirwin Avenue from the east
line of Santa Fe Avenue to the west line of Fourth Street;
Curbing and guttering of Ohio Street from the south line
of Iron Avenue to the north line of Gypsum Avenue;
Paving of Sunset Drive from the west line of Highland
Circle to the west line of Pershing Street;
Curbing and guttering of north side of Republic Avenue
from the west line of Ninth Street to the east: line of
Tenth Street; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of said improvements has been a scertained,
and the total portion thereof to be paid by a general tax to be
levied upon all taxable property within said city for the improve-
ment of squares and areas formed by the crossint of streets and
alleys and for the improvement of any of said streets where the
same is through or adjacent to property of the city for which the
city is liable and for which bonds will be issued as hereinafter
provided, has been ascertained and is hereby determined to be the
sum of $5,266.62; and
WHEREAS, the portion of said street improvements to be paid by
special assessments levied upon the lots and pieces of ground
liable for payment of said street improvements has been ascertained
and is hereby found and determined to be the sum of X19,675.85,
which said last amount has been heretofore duly assessed and
apportioned to the several lots and pieces of ground liable there-
for, payable in ten equal installments according to law and as
provided in the ordinance of the City of Salina relating thereto,
duly passed and approved, of which amount the sum of $1,565.00
has been paid by the owners of property liable therefor leaving
4 a balance for which bonds will be issued in the sum of $18,110.859
and;
WHEREAS, the total cost of said improvements for which bonds will
be issued exclusive of the amount heretofore paid in cash by the
propert owners has been and is now hereby determined to be the
sum of 123,377.47, NOW THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That for the purpose of providing funds to pay the
cost of the improvements hereinbefore described, there shall be
issued and there hereby are issued Internal Improvement Bonds of
the City of Salina, Kansas, in the total principal sum of 031,377.47
which issue shall consist of ten bonds numbered from 1 to 10 in-
clusive, all dated May 1st, 1932, which shallb ecome due serially
in d enominations as f ollows:
No. 1 for 42,677.47 due May lst, 1933
No. 2 for $2300 due May lst, 1934
No. 3 for 42300 due May lst, 1935
No. 4 for $2300 due May lst, 1936
No. 5 for $2300 due May lst, 1937
No. 6 for 42300 due May lst, 1936
No. 7 for $2300 due May lst, 1939
No. 8 for X2300 due May lst, 1940
No. 9 for $2300 due May lst, 1941
No. 10 for $2300 due May lst, 1942
All of said bonds shall bear interest at the rate of 4-1/4% per
annum, payable semi-annually on May lst and November lst in ach
yeaV except that the first interest on all of said bonds shall
become due and payable on May lst, 1933.
Section 2. Said bonds shall be executed by the Mayor and
shall be attested by the City Clerk and the corporate seal of the
city shall be affixed thereto. Said bonds shall have attached
thereto interest coup ns representing the interest thereon as
herein provided for and said interest coupons shall bear the fac-
simile signatures of the Mayor and City Clerk of said city.
Section 3. Said bonds shall be registered by the City Clerk
of the City of Salina, Kansas, and by the auditor of the State of
Kansas, and said bonds and interest coupons shall be pay
,able at
the office of the State Treasurer in the City of Topeka, Kansas,
and the form of said bonds and interest coupons attached thereto
shall be in the form prescribed by law.
Section 4.- The MaVor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
and directed to execute the bonds hereinbefore provided for and
to advertise and sell the same in the manner provided by law, and
when the same are duly executed and registered, to deliver said
bonds to the purchaser thereof in receipt of the purchase price.
Section 5. the full faith, credit and resources of the City
of Salina, Kansas, shall be and the same are hereby irrevocably
pledged for the prompt payment of said bonds and all interest
thereon, and the governing body of the City of Salina, Kansas,
shall annually make provisions for the payment of the principal
and interest on said bonds as the same become due by levying to xes
and assessments upon the property liable therefor as provided by
law.

Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication in the official city paper.
