AN ORDINANCE relating to and apportioning and levying special assess- `
ments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina
to pay the cost of curbing and guttering Ohio Street from the south
line of Iron Avenue to the north line of Uypsum Avenue in the City
of Salina, Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection
and payment of such assessments.

BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That for the purpose of paying for that part of the
cost of curbing and guttering Ohio Street from the south line of
Iron Avenue to the north line of Gypsum A enue in the pity cf Salina,
Kansas, which is chargeable to private property, and which is hereby
determined to be the sum of $1,103.13, there are hereby levied and
assessed on the property liable therefor, being all the lots and
pieces of ground lying on either side of said street above mentioned
for the distance improved as aforesaid to the center of the block
according to the appraised value of such lots and pieces of ground
without regard to the buildings or improvements thereon, special
asses-.ments covering.the cost of such work and improvements, said
special assessments being based on the spedial valuation and appraise -
went of s-aid.lots and.pieces of ground heretofore made by three dis-
interested appraisers appointed by the Board of �;ommissioners of the
City of Salina, "ansas, which said appraisement is hereby referred
to and made a part of this ordinance, and the several amounts levied,
apportioned and assessed against such lots and pieces of ground for
the purpose aforesaid are hereby found and determined to be as follows:

Semon 2. Said amounts levied, apportioned and assessed aforesaid
shall_be_due and collectible in ten equal installments, the first be-
coming due with the taxes levied for the year 1932 and one of said in-
stallments falling due each and every year thereafter until all are
paid, and all to be collected with interest as in this ordinance pro-
vided; PROVIDED HOWEVER, that the owner of any piece of property liable
for any such assessment may redeem his property from such liability by
paying -into -the City Treasury the entire amount chargeable against the
same, as in this ordinance designated, at any time within thirty days
after..the.publication.of..thi.s._ordinance and before the issuance of the
bonds of said city in payment of the balance.of said improvements, and
his property so paid on shall not thereafter be liable for any further
assessments for the cost of said improvements, nor for any part of said
bonds.
Section 3. Where is hereby further levied and assessed against
each lot and piece of ground described in this -ordinance 44 per cent
interest per annum on all Df -said installments therein mentioned from
the date .of.the bonds, which may be issued at the end of thirty days,
as specifiedin the preceding section hereof, as by law provided, to
the time of collection of the last installment, as provided by law,
which said interest shall be collected annually at the same time and
in the same manner as said installments are collected; and after the
taking effect of this ordinance it shall be the duty of the City �0lerk
of said. city to annually, at the same time other taxes are certified,
and until.all of.said assessments _so apportioned and levied herein have
been certified, to certify to the County Ulerk of Saline County, Kansas,
a full list of all property liable to assessment and taxation for such
work and improvement, except such property on which the special assess-
ments aforesaid have been paid in full as hereinbefore provided, to-
gether with the respective amounts due on each of such lots and pieces

of ground, which amounts shall include the annual installments of
such special assessments together with the interest for one year
at the rate of 4j% per annum, on all unpaid balances of such
assessments at the beginning of each such year as aforesaid, and
such amounts so certified as herein provided shall be placed upon
the tax roll by the county Clerk of Saline County, Kansas and
collected as all other taxes are collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication once in the official city
paper,

AN ORDINANCE relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City
of Salina to pay the cost of curbing and guttering Ohio Street
from the south line of Iron Avenue to the north line of Gypsum
A enue in .the City of Salina, Kansas, and relating to and pro-
viding for -the collection and payment of -such assessments.
