AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor
Construction Company for the construction of certain curbing,
guttering and paving improvements on certain streets in the
City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary
notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale
of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, of the
proposal of H. J. Taylor Construction Company hereinafter referred
to as the "Contractor" as submitted to the Board of Commissioners
on May 31st, 1932, which is hereby found and determined to be the
lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by
the Board of Commissioners of said City to said contractor and
signed on behalf of the City by its Mayor on May 31st, 1932, for
the construction of certain public improvements in the City of
Salina, to -wit:
Paving Sunset Drive from the west line of Highland Circle
to the west ne of Pershing Street, as provided for by
Ordinance No. 4150.
Paving Highland Circle from the south line of Ellsworth
Avenue to thenort=ne of Beloit Avenue, as provided
for by Ordinance No. 4151.
Curbing, guttering and paving Kirwin Avenue from the east
line of Santa Fe Avenue to the west line of rourth Street,
as provided for by Ordinance No. 4152.
Curbing and guttering Ohio Street from the south line of
Iron Avenue to the nor 1 neo gypsum Avenue, as provided
for by.Ordinance No. 4153.
Curbing, guttering and paving Front Street from the south
line of Walnut Street, south to the Smoky Hill -liver as
provided for by Ordinance No. 4154.
Curbing and guttering Chicago Street from the north line of
Walnut Street to the south —line of Sta-te Street, as provided
for by Ordinance No. 4155.
Paving Jewell Avenue from the west line of Ninth Street to
the east ine of Veventh Street, and for the curbing and
guttering of Jewell Avenue (along the south side) from the
west line of Tenth Street to the east line of Eleventh
Street, as provided for by Ordinance No. 4156.
All paving above provided for to be of six inch reinforced
concrete.
Curbing, guttering and paving North Street from the east
line of the alley west of Fifth Street west to connect
with the existing paving in Santa Fe Avenue, as provided
by Ordinance No. 4157.
Curbing, guttering and paving intersection of Ohio Street,
and Ash Street, and to a point 110 feet west of the west
line of Ohio Street as provided by Ordinance No. 4158.
Curbing, guttering and paving a portion of south half of
Ash Street east to a point 116 feet east of the east line
of Penn Avenue as provided by Ordinance No. 41589
at and for the unit prices for said work contained in said proposal,
which proposal and contract are hereby referred to and made parts
of this ordinance, be and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed,
said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements
as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the
office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and
made a part of this ordinance.

Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed
in accordance with the clans and specifications therefor prepared
by the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk and in
accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms
of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made parts
of this ordinance*
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and
attested by the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work
progresses in the manner and form as required by law, the total
amount thereof not to exceed the contract price for such work, such
notes to bear interest not to exceed 4-1%4 per annum, and to mature
not later than December 31st, 1932, and to be issued in such amounts
and at such time as money for the payment of the cost of such work
may be required, such notes to be issued to said contractor and to
be redeemed and cancelled at the time that permanent bonds are
issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication in the official city paper.
