AN ORDINANCE relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City
of Salina to pay the cost of recurbing Ninth Street from the
south line of Bishop Street to the soutMine c_P orth Street
(west of Ninth Street) in the City of Salina, Kansas, and re-
lating to and providing for the collection and payment of such
assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Corunissioners of theCity of Salina

Section 1. That for the purpose of paying for that part of the
cost of recurbing Ninth Street from the south line of Bishop Street
to the south line of North Street (west of Ninth Street0 in the
City of Salina, Kansas, which is chargeable to private property,
and which cost is hereby determined to be the sum of $699.75 there
are hereby levied and assessed on the property liable therefor,
being all the lots and pieces of ground lying on either sl.de of sni.d
street above mentioned, to the middle of the block, for the distance
improved as aforesaid according to the appraised value of such lots
and pieces of ground without regard to the buildings or improverients
thereon, special assessmdnts covering the cost of such work and
improvements said special assessments being based on the special
valuation and appraisement of said lots and pieces of ground hereto-
fore made by three disinterested appraisers appointed by the Board
of Commissioners of the City of Salina, ?.ansas, which said appraise-
went is hereby referred to and made part of this ordinance, and the
several amounts levied, apportioned and assessed against such lots
and pieces of ground for the purpose aforesaid are hereby found and
determined to be as follows:

Section 2. Said amounts levied., apportioned and assessed
aforesaid
shall be due and collectible in ten equal installments the
first be-
coming due wltl-i the taxes levied for the year 1934 and one
of said

are paid., and all to be collected with interest as in this
ordinance

liable for any such assessment may redeem his property from such
liability by paying into the City Treasury the entire amount charge-
able against the same, as in this ordinance designated, at
any time
within thirty days after the publication of this ordinance
and before
the issuance of t!,e bonds of said city in payment of the balance of
said improvements, and his property so paid on shall not thereafter
be liable for any further assessments for the cost of said
improvements.
Sects on 3, There is hereby further levied and assessed agaInst
each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance 31 per cent
interest per annum on all of said installments thereir, mentioned as
specified in the precedin- section hereof, as by law -rrovided.. which

said interest shall be collected annually at the sar«e time and in
th-e same manner as said installments are collected; and after the
taking effect of this ordinance it shall be the duty of the City
Clerk of said city annually, at the same time other taxes are certi-
fied, and until all of said assessments so apportioned and levied
herein have been certified, to certify to the County Clerk of :gal ,ne
County, Kansas, a full list of all property liable to assessment
and taxation for such viork and improvement, except such property
on vihich the special assessments aforesaid have beer,. paid in full
as hereinbefore provided, together with the respective amounts
due on each of such lots andpieces of ground, which a,-^ounts shall
include the annual installments of such special assessments together
1,aith the interest for one year at the rate of 31 ,Jer annum, on all
unpaid balances of such assessments at the begining of each such
year as aforesaid, and such amounts so certified as herein provided
sha_.l be placed upon the tax roll by the Coiznty '-lerk of Saline
County, Kansas and collected as all other taxes are collected.
Section 4._ This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its pizblication once in t'se off inial city paper.
