4413 Sidewalk Imp - Crawford135 ORDINANCE NO. 4413 (Published in the Salina Journals 1934) -- - — AN ORDINANCE providing for and requiring the construction of a concrete sidewalk along the south side of Crawford Avenue in the City of Salina between the east line of Sherman Street and the east line of Hancock Street. 7HEREAS, a petition duly signed by ten or more citizens of the City of Salina has been filed in the office of the City Clerk praying for the construction of a sidewalk along the street and in front of and abutting upon the property mentioned in the following ordinance, and said petition has been considered by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina and has been found to be suffi- cient and the sidewalk hereinafter referred to is deemed to be nec- essary by said Board of Commissioners, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAIIIED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That a concrete sidewalk shall be and the same is hereby ordered to be constructed and laid along the south side of Crawford Avenue between the east line of Sherman Street and the east line of Hancock Street including sidewalk approaches at the intersection of streets between said points, said sidewalk except approaches at intersections, to be in front of and. abutting upon the south side of Lots 1 and 16, Block 1, Lots 1 and 16 in Block 2, Lots 1 and 16 in Block 39 Lots 1 and 16 in Block 43, all in Southern Heights Addition in the City of Salina, Kansas (except portions of lots 1 and 16 in Block 4 in front of which a sidewalk has been laid according to the plans and specifications of and at grades fixed by the City Engineer. Section 2. That the sidewalk provided for in Section 1 of this ordinance shall be constructed and laid in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 2407 and Ordinance No. 3509 ad in accordance with the plans and specifications for concrete si e-� walks on file in the office of the City Engineer and in the offic1W F of the City (-lerk, pursuant to the provisions of said Ordinance No. 3509, which plans and specifications have been and are now hereby approved, the same to be constructed at the grade to be furnished by the City Ln.gineer, Section 3. That the owners of each of the lots and parcels of land described in the preceding section of this ordinance be and they are hereby ordered to construct in front of and abutting upon said lots or parcels of land, and along the street hereinabove mentioned, concrete sidewalk as above provided for, and if any one of them shall fail with --n 15 days from and after the publication of this ordinance to construct such sidewalk., the City engineer shall prepare and file with the City Clerk detailed estimates under oath of the cost of constructing such sidewalks and the Board of Commissioners of said city, shall proceed to construct or cause to be constructed such sidewalk as herein provided for and may let 236 a contract therefor, at a cost not to exceed the estimate of the City Engineer, and shall assess the cost thereof against such lots or parcels of land upon which such sidewalks shall abutt, according to the front foot thereof, and such cost so assessed shall be duly certified by the City Clerk to t)ae County Clerk of Saline Counter to be collected as other taxes and assessments are collected, in three annual installments.
