C� ty Z1erk (First published in the Salina Journal 1933) ORDINANCE N0, 4321 AN ORDINANCE providing for and authorizing the construction of certain water mains in Ninth Street and Walnut Street in the City of Salina, Kansas, and approving plans, specifications and estimates of cost relating; to such work, and providing f r the payment of the cost of such work. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That the plans and specifications and detailed estimates of cost heretofore prepared by the City Engineer of the City of Salina for the construction of a water main in the City of Salina from the center line of Iron Avenue to the south line of North Street (west of Ninth Street) which are now on file in -the office of the City Clerk be and the same are now hereby approved. Section 2. That the plans and specifications and detailed estimates of cost heretofore prepared by the City Engineer of the City of Salina for the construction of a water main in Walnut Street in the City of Salina from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue to the west line of College Avenue which are now on file in the office of the City Clerk be and the same are hereby approved. Section 3. That it is necessary and it is hereby ordered that; a water main be constructed in Ninth Street in accordance with the plans and specifications referred to in Section_ 1 of this ordinance and that the Superintendent of the Waterworks Department be and he is hereby authorized to purchase such materials and equipment, and employ such labor as may be nec- essary to do such work in accordance with such plans and specifications and within the estimated cost thereof as in Section 1 of this ordinance referred to, such water mains to be of the following dimensions and constructed along the following described course to -wit: Commencing at the center line of Iron Avenue, thence north as a 12." main to Bishop Street, thence north as a 10" main to the soth line of North Street (west of Ninth Street). Section 4. That it is necessary and it is hereby ordered that a water main be constructed in Walnut Street in accordance with the plans and specifications referred to in Section 2 of this ordinance and that the Superintendent of the Waterworks Department be and he is hereby authorized to purchase such materials and equipment, and employ such labor as may be nec- essary to do such work in accordance with such plans and speci- fications and within the estimated cost thereof as in Section 1 of this ordinance referred to, such water main to be of the following dimensions and constructed along the following des- cribed course to -wit; Commencing at the west line of Santa Fe, thence west as a 12" main to the existing 12" main in Ninth Street, thence to the west from the existing 12" main a 10" main/west line of College Avenue, Section 5. That the cost of t --)e mate_ ials, equipment and labor required in the performance of the work as provided for in this ordinance shall be paid out of the funds now on hand in the Waterworks Department Fund of the City of Salina, which has accumulated out of the revenue and income of said waterworks department from the operations of its waterworks pumping plant in accordance with the provisions of Section 12-814 R. S. 1923, except such portion of such cost, up to thirty percent of the total amount thereof, as may be secured as a grant to the City of Salina from the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works of the United States of America in accordance,with the Act of Congress of June 16th, 1933, known as the National Industrial Recovery Act, and the City Clerk, City Engineer and City Attorney of the City of Salina, and all other officers of the City of Salina are hereby authorized and directed tomake and execute such applications and statements of Information and all other necessary papers vixich may be required by law and by the regulations in force under the Act of Congress of the United States as above referred to, andwhich may be necessary or required by the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works in order to secure the grant of money herein referred to, in an amount equal to thirty per cent of the cost of such work.
