4317 Improve Pump Stations�3 ORDIVANCE P1; 0. 4317 (Published in the Salina Journal October rri 1933) AN ORi;IIIANCE providing for and authorizing the reconstruction of the pumping station of the ',rlaterworks Department and the reconstruction of the power switching eq,ipment in said pumping station, and approving plans, specifications and estimates of cost relating to such work, and providing for the payment of the cost of such work. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Sall_na, Kansas: Section 1. Zhat the plans and specifications heretofore prepared by the City Engineer of the City of Salina and by Charles W. Shaver, Architect for the reconstruction of the high service pumping station of the Waterworks Department of the City of Salina, Kansas, located at Fourth and South Streets in said city, and the detailed estimate of the cost of such work, all of which are now on file in the office of the City Clerk be and the same are approved. Section 2. That the high service pumping station of the Waterworks Department be reconstructed in accordance w--th the plt"ns and specifications h3rotofore approved as r,rovided for in Section 1 of this ordinance; that the City Clerk be and he is hereb,v authorized and directed to advertise for bids for the reconstruction of such pumping plant in accordance with such plans and specifications, by advertisement published for three consecutive days in the official city paper, and that at the time and place provided for in such notice the Board of Commissioners may let a contract for such work to the lowest and best bidder therefor; provided however, that the Board of Commissioners re- serve the right to reject any and all bids. The person to whom any such contract is awarded shall be required to furnish contract and statutory bonds as provided for in said specifications, and shall be required to carry Workmen's Compensation and Public Liability insurance covering such work. Section 3. That the plans and specifications for the recon- struction of the high and low service power switching Equipment in the pumping station of the Waterworks Department at Fourth and South Streets in Salina, Kansas as prepared by the City Engineer and the detailed estimate of the cost thereof, all of -hich are now on file in the office of the City Clerk be and the same are hereby approved. Section 4. That the h'gh and low service power swi'ching equipment in the pumping station of the Waterworks Department at Fourth and South Streets in Salina, Kansas, be reconstructed in accordance with the plans and specifications referred to in the preceding section of this ordinance, and that the superintendent 14 of the Waterworks Department be and he is hereby authorized to purchase such materials and equipment, and to employ such labor as may be necessary to do such work in accordance with si;ch plans and specifications and within the estimated cost thereof as pro- vided for in the detailed estimate of cost now on file and which has been approved by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, as provided in the preceding section of this ordinance. Section 5. That the contract price of the work provided for in Section 2 of this ordinance and the cost of the materials, equipment and labor required in the performance of the work as provided for in Section 4 of this ordinance be paid out of the funds now on hand in the Waterworks Department Fund of the City of Salina, which has been accumulated out of the revenue and in- come of said Waterworks Department from the operations of its waterworks pumping plant, in accordance with the provisions of Section 12-814 R. S. 1923, except such portion of such cost, up to thirty percent of the total amount thereof, as may be secured as a grant to the City of Salina fro m the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works of the United States of America in accordance with the Act of Congress of June 16th, 1933, known as the National Industrial R'O'covery Act, and the City Clerk, City Engineer and City Attorney of the City of Salina, and all other officers of the City of Salina are hereby authorized and directed to make and execute such applications and statements of information and all other necessary papers which may be required by law and by the regulations it force under the Act of Congress of the United States as above referred to, and which may be necessary or required by the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works in order to secure the grant of money herein referred to, in an amount equal to -1-1irty per cent of the cost of such work. vection 6. lhi_s ordinance shall take effect and be in force after its publication once in the official city paper.
