AN ORDINANCE levying special assessments against certain property
to pay the cost of constructing certain water service pipes
in certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas.
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners have heretofore ordered the
owners of the property hereinafter described to pay water service
pipes from the water mains in the streets abutting thereon to the
back of the curb line in said streets, prior to the paving thereof,
and
WHEREAS, notice was duly given by publication in the official city
paper of said order and the owners of the property hereinafter des-
cribed did not within thirty days after the last publication of
said notice lay said service pipes and the city laid or caused the
same to be laid, pursuant to Section 12-832 to 12 -833 -of the Revised
Statutes of Kansas, 1923, and the cost thereof has been ascertained,
and remains unpaid by the property owners liable therefor; NW7
THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That there be and there is hereby levied and assessed
against each of the lots and parts of lots hereinafter described, a
special tax or assessment for the purpose of paying that part of the
cost of constructing and laying said water service pipes taxable
against such lots and parts of lots, in the various amounts set
opposite the following described lots and parts of lots, to -wit:

Section 2. That the owner of any piece of property liable for
any such assessment may redeem his property from such liability by
paying into the City Treasury the amount chargeable against the
same as in this ordinance provided at any time within thirty days
after the publication of this ordinance, and the City Clerk is direct-
ed to give notice of such assessments by mail, to such owners, and
the City Clerk is hereby directed and authorized after the expiration
of said thirty days to certify any of such assessments as then
remain unpaid to the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, to be
placed upon the tax roll for collection, subject to the same

penalties and collection in like manner as other taxes, with

Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication in the official city paper.
