AN ORDINANCE directing the Mayor of the City of Salina, Kansas to `
issue a proclamation or notice of election for the purpose
of submitting to the electors of the City of SalinaKansasI
and territory attached thereto for school purposes , , , at a
special election to be held on the 30th day of August, 1938,
the question of issuing bonds in an amount not to exceed
Three Hundred Seventy Five Thousand Dollars ('375,000.00)
for the purpose of purchasing a site and constructing and
equipping a high school building.
WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the Mayor and Board of Commissioners
of the City of Salina a certified copy of a resolution of the Board of
Education of the City of Salina, signed by the Clerk and countersigned
by the President of the Board, declaring the necessity for issuing
bonds by the said Board in an amount not to exceed Three Hundred
Seventy -Five Thousand Dollars (V375,000.00) for the purpose of pur-
chasing a site and constructing and equipping a high school building
and giving a statement of the estimated cost thereof, praying that a
special election_ be called for thepurpose of submitting to a vote
of the electors the question of issuing said bonds for the purpose
wet out therein, NOW THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That a special election is called to be held on
the 30th day of August, 1938 in the City of Salina, Kansas and the
territory attached thereto for school purposes, for the purpose of
submitting to a vote of the electors the question of issuing bonds
by the Board of Education of the City of Salina for the purpose of
purchasing a site and constructing and equipping a high school build-
ing in an amount not to exceed Three Hundred Seventy -Five Thousand
Dollars 0375,000.00).
Section 2. The Mayor of the City of Salina is directed to
issue a proclamation or notice of such election for the purpose of
submitting to a vote of the electors the question of issuin bonds
for such purpose, and the proposition to be voted on at said election
to be in form substantially as follows:
"Shall the following be adopted?
Shall the Board of Education of the City of Salina, of
the State of Kansas, issue bonds of said Board of Education
in an amount not to exceed Three Hundred Seventy -rive
Thousand Dollars 0375,000.00) for the purpose of aiding
in financing the cost of the purchase of site and construc-
tion and equipping of a high school building, the total
estimated cost thereof being Six Hundred Eighty-one
Thousand, Eight Hundred Dollars ($681,800.00), it being
contemplated that the remainder of the cost of the pur-
chase of site, construction and equipping of said high
school building shall be net from the proceeds of a
grant in the amount of Three kindred Six 'Thousand,
Light Hundred Ten Dollars 0306,810.00) for which said
Board of Education has applied to the United States of
America through the Federal Lmergency Administration
of Public Works, the proceeds from said bonds to be
used only in cooperation and in conjunction with funds
furnished for such purpose by the United States of America,
and if funds are not furnished or grant made by the United
States of America in an amount satisfactory to said Loard,
then the Board shall not use the proceeds from said bonds?"
To vote in favor of the bonds make a cross (X) mark in
the square after the word 'YESt.
To vote against the bonds hake a cross (X) mark in the
square after the word tNO1.
