AN ORDINANCE relating to and fixing the salaries and wages of certain
officers and employees of the City of Salina.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1, That from and after.January 1st, 1938, the
salaries and wages to be paid to theofficers and employees of the City
Of Salina mentioned in this ordinance shall be the amounts set forth
In the following sections of this ordinance.
Section 2. AD14INISTRATICN AND FINANCE DEPARTMENT. The
salaries and wages of the following officers and employees of the City
of Salina shall be as follows:
City Manager, (not including salary as Superintendent
of Water Works Department) - - - - - - $175.00 per month

Section 3,, POLICE DEPARTI4ENT. The salaries of Police
Officers of the City of Salina shall be as follows:

Salaries of any special policeman shall be fixed by the City kanager
not to exceed the salary of regular patrolmen. Salaries of patrolmen
when hired shall be fixed and raised to maximum as now provided for
by ordinance.
Section 4. STREET DEPART1r2ENT• The salaries and wages of
officers and employees of the Street Department of the City of Salina
shall be as follows:
Superintendent, (furnishing own automobile and expense
of upkeep and operation) - - - - - $200.00 per month
Mechanic - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - $125.00 per month
Section 5. ENGINEERING DEPART1,1ENT. The salaries of officers
of the engineering department shall be as follows:
City Engineer (not including salary as Engineer for
the Water Department - - - - - - - $200.00 per month
The above mentioned shall furnish an automobile, :nd the
expense of operation and upkeep thereof, for use in the performance
of his duties. Not to exceed two assistant City Engineers when nee-
essary, at such salary as may be fixed by the City Manager, not to
exceed $150.00 per month.
Section 6. PARK DEPARTMENT* The salaries of officers and
employees of the Park Department shall be as follows:
Superintendent, (furnishing own car and expensefor oSeration

Section 7. FIRE DEPARTMENT. The salaries cf the officers
and members of the Fire Department shall be as follows:

Salaries of VN`"t1)ecia1 firemen shall be fined by the City
Manager, not to exceed the salary of regular fireman. Salaries of
fireman when hired shall be fixed and raised to maximum as now pro-
vided for by ordinance.
Section 8. SEWAGE DISPOSAL DEPARTMENT. The Superintendent
and custodian of the Sewage Disposal and Sewage Pumping Plants,
(furnishing his own automobile and the expense of operation and
upkeep thereof) shall receive a salary of $200.00 per month.
Section 9. WATER WORKS DEPARTMENT. The salaries and wages
of officers and employees of the Yater Works Department shall be
as follows:

Section 10. MILK INSPECTION DEPARTtdENT. The salary of the
Milk Inspector (furnishing own automobile and expense of upkeep and
operation and not including salary as chemist for the Water Department)

Section 11. The salaries of such city officers as are not specs -
facially mentioned in this ordinance shall remain as now fixed by
ordinance, and whenever it is necessary to employ any person in any
department whose wages are not specifically fixed by ordinance* in -
eluding all common labor, the wages of any such employee shall be such
as may be fixed by the City Manager and as may be allowed and paid
from time to time by the Board of Commiss_oners; provided, that if by
agreement the salary or wages paid to any officer or employee is reduced
from the amount hereby fixed or theretofore in effect, the amount so
agreed upon, when allowed and paid by the Board of Commissioners and
accepted by the officer or employee shall be,in full paymdnt for his
services.
Section 12. Nothing in this ordinance shall be deemed to affect
or change the terms or provisions of any ordinance now in effect., except
to such extent as the salaries and wages of officers and employees of
the city are changed by this ordinance.
Section 13. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication in the official cit; paper.

employees of the Park Department shall be as follows:

any department whose wages are not specifically fixed by ordinance,
. including all common labor, the wages of any such employee shall be
such as may be fixed by the City Manager and as may be allowed and
paid from time to time by the Board of Commissioners; provided,
that if by agreement the salary or wages paid to any officer or
employee is reduced from the amount hereby fixed or theretofore
in effect, the amount so agreed upon, when allowed and paid by the
Board of Commissioners and accepted by the officer or employee shall
be in full payment for !Chis services.
Section_^;. Nothing in this ordinance shall be deemed to
affect or change the terms or provisions of any ordinance now in
effect, except to such extent as the salaries and wakes of officers
and employees of the city are changed by this ordinance.
Section 13. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication in the official city paper*
