AN ORDINANCE providing for and requiring the construction of certain
concrete sidewalks in certain streets in City of Salina, Kansas.
WIEREAS, petitions duly signed as required by law have been filed in
the office of the City Clerk praying for the construction of certain
sidewalks along certain streets and in front of and abutting upon
certain property mentioned in the following ordinance, which peti-
tions have been considered by the Board of Commissioners of the City
of Salina and found to be sufficient and the sidewalks to be con-
structed as hereinafter described are deemed to be necessary by the
Board of Commissioners, and
VEREAS, certain existing sidewalks in the City of Salina as herein-
after described have been found and are hereby determined to be de-
fective and it is deemed necessary by the Board of Commissioners of
said city that new sidewalks be constructed in place thereof; NOW
THEREF.ORE
BE IT ORDAIAI'ED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Ka.n s as :
Section 1. That concrete sidewalks of the width and thickness
hereinafter prescribed shall be and the same are hereby ordered to
be constructed and laid along certain parts of certain streets in
the City of Salinas Kansas, as hereinafter defined, including side-
walk approaches at the intersection of streets and acorns unpaved
streets and portions thereof, between the points hereinafter set
forth, said sidewalks, except at approaches at intersections and
across unpaved streets, to be in front of and abutting upon the
lots hereinafter mentioned to -wit:
A concrete sidewalks 4 feet wide and 4 inches thick (except
across existing driveways and across unpaved streets where the
same shall be 6 inches thick):
Along the west side of north Penn Street, in front of and
abutting on Lot 18, Block 1, Riverside Park Addition;
Along the west side of Custer Street from the south line of
Crawford to the north line of Franklin and on east side from Craw-
ford to Illinois, in front of and abutting on Lots No. 9, 100 11,
122 132 14, Block 1, Southern Heights Addition, Lots No. 1, 20 3,
41 50 6, 72 8, Block 2, Southern Heights Addition, Lot 80 Block 9s
Southern Heights Addition, Lots 30 42 52 6, 7, Block 12, Southern
Heights Addition and Lot 25, Dimick's Addition;
Along the west side of Ohio Avenue from Iron Avenue south to
alley, in front of and abutting on Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, Block 1, Phillips
East Salina Addit-on;
Along the south side of East Iron Avenue, in front of and
abutting on the east ,—� of Lot 1, Block 1, East Salina Addition;
Along the south side of Jewell Avenue, from the west line of
Ninth Street to the east line of Tenth Street, in front of and
abutting on Lots 1, 7, 80 90 100 11, 122 130 26, 270 28 Southview
Addition;
Along both sides of Tenth Street, from the south line of Jewell
Avenue to the north line of Kirwin Avenue, in front of and abutting

Block 1, Beverly Manor Addition;
Along the north side of Walnut Street, in front of and abutting
on Lot 138, Third Street, Original Tovrnsite;
Along the west side of Third Street from the north line of
Walnut Street north 100 feet, in front of and abutting on Lots
136 and 138, Third Street, Original Townsite;
Along the south side of Beloit Street in front of and abutting
on Lot 11, Block 50 Highland Court Addition;
Along the west side of Baker Street, in front of and abutting
on Lot 12, Block 3, Morrison's Addition (27t of 4' sidewalk);
Along both sides of Sheridan Street, from the south line of
Crawford Street to the north line of Republic Avenue, in front of
and abutting on Lots i, 2, 30 4, 5, 60 7, 80 Block 30 Lots 12, 13,
14, 150 16, Block 2, Lot 10 Block 8, Lots 9, 10, 110 120 130 150

Section 2• That the sidewalks provided for in Section 1 of
this ordinance shall be constructed and laid in accordance with
the provisions of Ordinance No, 2407 and Ordinance No. 3509 and
in accordance with the plans and specifications for concrete side-
walks filed in the office of the City Engineer and in the office
of the City Clerk pursuant to the provisions of said Ordinance No.
3509, except as herein otherwise specifically provided for, which
plans and specifications have been and are now hereby approved,
the same to be constructed at the grades to be furnished by the
City Engineer*
Section 3. That the owners of each of the lots and parcels
of land described in the preceding section of this ordinance be
and they are hereby ordered to construct in front of and abutting
upon said lots or parcels of land, and along the street hereinabove
mentioned, sidewalk as above provided for, and if any one of them
shall fail within 15 days from and after the publication of this
ordinance to construct such sidewalk the City Engineer shall pre-
pare and file with the City Clerk detailed estimated under oath of
the cost of constructing such sidewalks and the Board of Cormnissioners
of said city, shall proceed to construct or cause to be constructed

such sidewalk as herein provided for and may let a contract therefor,
at a cost not to exceed the estimate of the City Engineer, and shall
assess the cost thereof against such lots and parcels of land upon
Which such sidewalks shall abutt, according to the front foot thereof,
and such cost so assessed shall be duly certified by the City Clerk
to the County Clerk of Salil:e County to be collected as other taxes
and assessments are collected in one annual installment*
Section 4• This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication once in the official city paper.

WHEREAS, petitions duly signed as required by law have been filed

in the City of Salina, Kansas, as hereinafter defined, including
sidewalk approaches at the intersection of streets and across un-
paved streets and portions thereof, between the points hereinafter

the lots hereinafter mentioned to -wit:

Section; 2• That the sidewalks provided for in Section 1 of
this ordinance shall be constructed and laid in accordance with
the provisions of Ordinance No, 2407 and Ordinance No. 3509 and
in accordance with the plans and specifications for concrete sidep-
walks filed in the office of the City Engineer and in the office
of the City Clerk pursuant to the provisions of said Ordinance No•
3509, except as herein otherwise specifically provided for, which
plans and specifications have been and are now hereby approved,
the same to be constructed at the grades to be furnished by the
City Engineer.
Section 3• That the owners of each of the lots and parcels
of land described in the preceding section of this ordinance be
and they are hereby ordered to construct in front of and abutting
upon said lots or parcels of land, and along the street hereinabove
mentioned, sidewalk as above provided for, and if any one of them
shall fail within 15 days from and after the publication of this
ordinance to construct such sidewalk, the City Engineer shall pre-
pare and file with the City Clerk detailed estimated under oath of
the cost of constructing such sidewalks and the Board of Commissioners
of said city, shall proceed to construct or cause to be constructed
such sidewalk as herein provided for and may let a contract therefor,
at a cost not to exceed the estimate of the City Engineer, and shall
assess the cost thereof against such lots and parcels of land upon
which such sidewalks shall abutt, according to the front foot thereof,
and such cost so assessed shall be duly certified by the City Clerk
to the County Clerk of Saline County to be collected as other taxes
and assessments are collected in one annual installment.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication once in the official city paper
