AN ORDINANCE providing for the construction of certain storm sewers
in the City of Salina to be designated as Storm Sewers No.
11 and 12, and providing for the issuing of improvement bonds
to pay the cost thereof.
BE IT ORDAINr�D by the board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1, Storm Sewer No. 11. That it is necessary and it is
hereby ordered that a storm sewer which is hereby designated as Storm
Sewer No. 11, together with all necessary inlets, connections and other
appurtenances be constructed in the City of Salina along the following
course, to -wit:
Beginning at a point of outlet 15 ft. south of the north line
of Beloit Street and 70 ft. east of the east line of Osborne Street,
thence west parallel to the north line of Belc;it Street 95 ft. to a
manhole, thence west 325 ft. to a manhole, thence west 250 ft. to a
manhole, thence west 75 ft. to a manhole at the intersection of Fourth
and Beloit Streets; (all such sewer to be 3611); thence south in Fourth
Street 160 ft. to a manhole, thence south 170 ft. to a manhole at Fourth
end Minneapolis Streets; (all such sewer to be 30'x); thence west in
Minneapolis Street 300 ft. to a manhole; (all such sewer to be 27");
thence west 275 ft. to a manhole at the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue
and Minneapolis Street; (all such sewer to be 24"); thence west 275 ft.
to a manhole, thence west 285 ft. to a manhole at highland Avenue and
Minneapolis street, thence south in highland Avenue 245 ft. to a man-
hole at Highland Avenue and Ellsworth Street; (all such sewer to be
21"); thence south 472 ft. to a manhole in Highland Avenue between
Jervell and Kerwin; (all such sewer to be 18"); thence south 326 ft.
to a manhole, thence 381 ft. to a manhole in Highland !,venue approxi-
mately 125 ft. south of the south line of Claflin Street; (all such
sewer to be 15;6); also beginning at a manhole on the above mentioned
sewer at Fourth and Beloit Street, thence north in fourth Street 120 ft.
to a manhole; (all such sewer to be 1211); also beginning at a manhole
on the above mentioned sewer at Highland -venue and Minneapolis, thence
north in Highland Avenue 161 ft. to a manhole; (all such sewer to be
12"); all the above mentioned manholes and inlets and all other necessary
overflow relief connections, special manholes andother appurtenances,
to be constructed as a part of said sewer.

Section 3. That on or before March 1st, 1929, the City Engineer
shall prepare and file in the office of the City Clerk detailed plans
and specifications for the construction of the storm sewer provided
for in Section 1 of this ordinance, with segment block vitrified, and
concrete sewer pipe, and such other types of sewer as said Engineer
may deem advisable, and on or before the same date shall prepare and
file in the office of the City Jerk, under oath, a detailed estimate
of the cost thereof. After such plans and specifications and estimated
cost shall have been filed, as aforesaid, the City Clerk shall ad-
vertise, by advertisements published in the official city paper for at
least three consecutive days, for sealed proposals for the building and
construction of such storm sewer, and at the ti.:e and place alentioned,
the Board of Commissioners may contract with the lowest and best
responsible bidder therefor, for the building and construction of such
storm sewer, but the right to reject any and all proposals shall be

shall provide for the furnishing by such contractor of perforn;ance and

full cost of such work, which shall be approved by the Board of

Section 5. That for the purpose of paying the cost of such
improvements, the Board of Commissioners shall issue improvement
bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in an amount not to exceed
the total cost of such work and improvements, to be payable in
ten approxiinately equal annual installments and to bear interest
at not to exceed 5% per annum from the date of such bonds, and
for the purpose of paying such bonds and interest as they severally
mature, the Board of �;oriruissioners shall annually levt a tax upon
all real and personal property in the City of Salina in an amount
sufficient to pay the annual installments of such principal and
interest, and that pending the issue of such bonds, temporary notes
shall be issued according to law, to pay the cost of such work.
Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from ana after its publication in the official city paper.
