3667 Regulating TrafficORDINANCE NO. 36 (Published in the Salina Journal E 1929) AN ORDINANCE amending Sections 5 and 6 of 'rdinanee iso. 3640, being an ordinance relating to and regulating; traffic upon certain public streets in the City of Salina and repealing said original sections of said ordinance. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That Section 5 of Ordinance No. 3640 be and the same is hereby amended to reas as follows: "Section 5. A pedestrian crossing or starting across a street on a green or "gp" signal at any intersection controlled by traffic control signals, shall i_ave the right of way over all vehicles, including those making right or left hand turns, until such pedestrians shall have reached the opposite curb or safety zone, and it shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to fail to yield the right of way to any such pedestrian. Pedestrians shall yield the right of way at all such intersections to all vehicles proceeding straight ahead on any green or "go" signal, and pedestrians crossing any street between intersections shall yield the right of way to vehicles proceeding along such street, and any pedestrian crossing any street at any such intersection against a red or "stop" signal or at an:; place in any block between intersections shall do so at his own risk". Section 2. That Section 6 of 'Jrdinance No. 3640 be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 6. It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to make a complete turn commonly known as a "U" turn, at any of the intersections mentioned in Section 1 of this ordinance (Ordinance No. 3640) and a sign warning traffic against such turns shall be placed at each intersection. The operator of a vehicle intending to turn to the right at any intersection, or into any alley or driveway shall approach the point of turning in the traffic lane nearest the :right hand edge or curb of the street, and in turning shall keep as close as practicable to the right hand edge or curb of the street. The operator of a vehicle intending to turn to the left at any intersection shall approach the intersection in the traffic lane next to, and to the right of', the center of the street, and shall proceed as close as possible to the center of the street until reaching the center of the intersection shall then turn, and it shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to make a left hand turn at any intersection unless he shall have approached the intersection as nearly as possible to the center of the street and shall have proceeded along the traffic lane immediately to the right of the center of such street, until the turn is made. The operators of all vehicles intending to make a right or left hand turn at any inter- section, where the traffic is controlled by the traffic control signals as provided for in this ordinance shall not enter any intersection until the green or "go" signal appears on the street upon which such turn originates and shall then poceed to complete such turn with due regard to vehicles and pedestrians having the right of way along such street from which such turn originated, and shall give ample warning by sounding the horn of such vehicle to any pedestrians crossing the street into which the turn is made. the operator of any vehicle making a left harm. turn at any intersection controlled by traffic control signals shall not enter or drive through any line of traffic which may be then proceeding straight ahead on a green or "g;o" signal across the street into which such turn is made, nor shall such turn be completed if the same will interfere with any vehicle proceeding straight ahead under such green or "go" signal, but shall pr,ceed as nearly as possible to the center of the inte-,section and there wait until danger of such interference has passed." Section 3. That original sections b and 6 of uroinance 3640 be and the sante are hereby repealed. Section 4.
