AN ORDINANCE providing for the construction of a pumping station
for the purpose of pumping the sewage of Main Sewer District
"P" into the existing sewer located on Eleventh Street, at
Wilson Street, in order to conduct the sewage of Main Sewer
District "P" to a point of outlet.
WHEREAS, the City of Salina has by ordinances provided for
the construction of a Main Sanitary Sewer in blain Sewer District
"P" for the purpose of disposing of the sewage in such district,
and
`H REAS, on account of the elevation of the existing main
sewers adjacent to said Sewer District t'P", it is impracticable
and too expensive to excavate in connecting such main sewer in
Main Sewer District 'IF" with any other main sewer district or
main intercepting sewer now existing, and
WHEREAS, in order to provide an outlet for the sewage of
the main sewer to be constructed in Vain Sewer District "P", it
is necessary in the judgment of the governing body of the City
of Salina to construct a pumping station for *she purpose of pump-
ing the sewage of such Main Sewer Listrict "P" into the present
existing main sewer located in Eleventh Street, at Wilson Street,
in order to conduct the sewage of said Main Sewer Listrict "P"
to a point of outlet; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City Qf Salina,

Section 1. That a pumping station for the purpose of pumping
the sewage of Main Sewer District "P" to the main sewer now existing
in Eleventh Street, at Wilson Street, be constructed in the m"nner
provided by law.
Section 2. That the City Engineer of the City of Salina shall
on or before the 16th day of July 1928, prepare and file in the
office of the City Clerk, plans and specifications for the con-
struction of the pumping station provided for in Section 1 of this
ordinance which shall be of the proper character and at the proper
location to pump the sewage of said Sewer District "P" into the
main sewer at present existing in Eleventh Street, at Wilson Street,
so as to conduct the sewage from Main Sewer District "P" to a port
of outlet, and shall on or before said date prepare and submit to
the Board of Commissioners detailed estimates of the cost thereof,
and that thereafter the City Clerk shall advertise for three con-
secutive days in the official city paper for sealed proposals for
the building and construction of such pumping station according
to such plans and specifications, which proposals shall be filed
with the City Clerk on or before the time fixed in such notice,
at which time the Board of Commissioners may let a contract for
the building and construction of such pumping station to the lowest
and best responsible bidder therefor; provided that such bids shall
not exceed the estimated cost thereof and provided further that
said Board shall reserve the right to reject any and all such pro-
posals and that if no responsible bids shall be received within
said estimated cost said Board may proceed and build such pumping
station within such estimated cost.

sold as provided by law. \
Section 4. That before the pumping station herein provided
for shall be constructed, the plans and specifications therefor
shall first be submitted to the department of the Board of Health
of the State of Kansas and be approved by such department.
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication in the official city paper.
