AN ORDI1\1JCE relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and ;,feces of ground in

BE IT ORDAINH,D by the Board of Commissioners of the Vitr of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. ghat for the purpose of paying for the cost of
paving unpaved portion of Santa Fc Avenue from the north line of
Lincoln Avenue to the south line of Harsh Street in the City of
Salira, Kansas, there are hereby levied and assessed on the prorerty
liable therefor, being all the lots and pieces of ground lying on
either side of said street above mentioned for the distance improved
as aforesaid to the center of the block according to the appraised ,
value of such lots and pieces of ground, without regard to the
buildings er improvements thereon, special assessments covering the
cost of such 1%ork and 1mrrovements, said special assessments being
based on the special valuation and appraisement of said lots and
pieces of ground her-tofore made by three disinterested appraisers
appointed by the Board of Connis.sioners of the City of Salina, Llansas,
,.-;hich said appraisement is hereby referred to and 1 --,de a part of
this ordinance, and the several amounts levied, apportioned and
assessed against such lots and pieces of ground for the purpose
aforesaid are hereby found and determined to be as follows:

Section 2. Said amounts levied, apportioned and assessed
aforesaid. shall be due and collectible in ten equal installments,
the first becoming due with the taxes levied for the year 1930
and one of said installments falling due each and every year
thereafter until all are paid, and all to be collected with in-
terest as in this ordinance provided; PROVIDED HO-:4EVF,R, that the
owner of any piece of propert7, liable for any such assessment
may redeem his property from such liability by paying into the
City Treasury the entire amount chargeable against the same, as
in this ordinance designated, at any time within thirty days
after the publication of this ordinance and before the issuance
of the bonds of said city in payment of the balance of said i•--
j;rovements, and his pro-,erty so -raid on shall not thereafter be
liable for any further assessments for the cost of said improve-
ments, nor for any part of said bonds.
Section 3. There is herebz; further levied and a ssessed
against each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance
42 per cent interest per annum on all of said installments there-
in mentioned from the date of the bonds, which may be issued
at the end of thirty days, as specified in the preceding section
hereof, as by law provided, to the time of collection of the last
installments, as provided by law, which said interest shall be
collected annually at the same time and in the same manner as
said installments are collected; and after the taking effect of
this ordinance it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of said
city to annually, at the same time other taxes are certified,
and until all of said assessments so aprrortioned and levied
herein have been certifieCi. to cert ify to the bounty k-'lerk of
Saline County, Kansas, a full list of all property liable to
assessment and taxation for such work and improvement, except
such property on which the special assessments aforesaid have
been paid in full as hereinbefore provided, together with the
respective amounts due on each of such lots and. pieces of ground,
which amounts shall include the annual installments of such special
assessments to gether with the interest for one year at the rate
of 42 per annum on all unpaid balances of such assessments at
the beginning of each such year as aforesaid, ands uch amounts
so certified as herein provided shall be placed upon the tax
roll by the County 6lerk of Saline County, Kansas and collected
as all other taxes are collected.

Sect -Ton 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication once in the official city
paper.

against each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance
4 per cent interest per annum. on all of said installments
therein mentioned from the date of the bonds, which may be issued
at the end of thirty days, as specified in the preceding section
hereof, as by law provided, to the time of collection of the last
installment, as provided by law, which said interest shall be
collected annually at the same time and in the same manner as
said installments are collected; and after the taking effect of
this ordinance it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of said
city to ar_nually, at the same time other taxes are certified,,
and until all of said assessments so appontioned and levied here-
in have been certified, to certify to the County Clerk of Saline
County, Kansas, a full list of all property liable to assessment
and taxation for such work and improvement, except such property
on which the special assessments aforesaid have been paid in full
as hereinbefore provided, together with the respective amounts
due on each of such lots and nieces of ground, which amounts shall
nc).u,-e the annual installments of slich special assessr;ents tc-
gel -her with the interest for one year at the rate of 41 per
anniun, on all unpaid balances of such assessments at the begin-
.,ing of each such year as aforesaid, and such amounts so certi.
Tied as herein provided shall be placed upon the tax roll by'thP
Jcunty Clerk of Saline County, Kansas and collected as all other
tars are collected.
