AN ORDINANCE relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the
City of Salina to pay the cost of curbing, guttering and
paving Columbia Avenue from the south line of Ash Street
to the north line of Iron Avenue in the City of Salina,
Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection
and payment of such assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. ghat for the purpose of paying for the cost of
curbing, guttering and paving Columbia Avenue from the south line
of Ash Street to the noth line of Iron Avenue in the City of Salina,
Kansas, there are hereby levied and assessed on the property liable
therefor, being all the lots and pieces of Eround lying on either
side of said street above mentioned for the distance improved as
aforesaid to the center of the block, according to the appraised
value of such lots and pieces of ground, without regard to the
bui dings or i-�iprovements thereon, special assessments covering
the cost of such work and irprovements, said special assessments
being based on the special valuation and appraisement of said lots
and pieces of ground heretofore made by three disinterested aprraisers
ap~-ointed by the Board of Commissioners of the Uity of Salina, Kansas,
which said appraisement is hereby referred to and made a part of this
ordinance, and the several amounts levied, apportioned and assessed
against such lots and pieces of ground for the purpose aforesaid are
hereby found and determined to be as follows:

Section 2. Said amounts levies., apportioned and a ssessed afore-
said shall be due and collectible in ten equal installments the first
becoming due with the taxes levied for the year 1930 and one of said
installments falling due each and every year thereafter until all are
paid, and all to be collected with interest as in this ordinance pro-
vided; PROVIDED HO`r:'EVER, that the ovner of any piece of property liable
for any such assessment may redeem his property from such liability
by paying into the city Treasury the entire amount chargeable against
the same, as in this ordinance designated, at any time within thirty
days after the publication of this ordinance and before the issuance
of the bonds of said city in payment of the balance of said improve-
ments, and his property so paid on shall not thereafter be liable for
any further assessments for the cost of said i�Tiprovements, nor for any
part of said bonds.
Section 3. `there is hereby further levied and assessed against
each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance 42/ interest
per annum on all of said installments therein mentioned from the
date of the bonds, ,,hick may be issued at the end of thirty days, as
specified in the preceding section hereof, as by lav:, provided, to
the time of collection of the last installment, as provided by late,
,which said interest shall.. be collected annual y at the same time and
in the same manner as said installments are collected; and after the
taping effect of this ordinance it shall be the duty of the city clerk
of said city to annually, at the same time other taxes are certified,
and until all of said assessments so apportionec and levied herein have
been certified, to ce0tify to the "ounty clerk of Saline County,
Kansas, a full list of all property liable to assessment and.t axation
for such work and improvement, except such property on which the special
assessments aforesaid have been paid in full as hereinbefore provided,
together with the respective amounts due on each of such lots and
pieces of ground, .,-�hich amounts shall include the annual installments
of such special assessments together with the interest for one year

at the rate of 42°, per annum, on all unpaid balances of such assess-
ments at the beginning of each such year as aforesaid, and such amounts
so certified as herein provided shall be placed upon the tax roll by
the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas and collected as all other
taxes are collected.
Section 4. '2his ordinance shall take effect and be in full force
from and after its publication once in the official city paper.

An Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the
City of Salina to pay the cost of curbing, guttering and
paving Columbia Avenue from the south line of Ash Street
to the north line of Iron Avenue in the City of Salina,
Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection
and payment of such assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Salina, Kansas:
Sectionl. That for the purpose of paying for the cost
of curbing, guttering and paving Columbia Avenue from the south
line of Ash Street to the north line of Iron Avenue in the City
of Salina, Kansa:, there are hereby levied and assessed on the
property liable therefor, being all the lots and pieces of ground
lying on either side of said street above mentioned for the distance
improved as aforesaid to the center of the block, according to the
appraised value of such lots and pieces of ground, without regard
to the buildings or improvements thereon, special assessments cover-
ing the cost of such work and improvements, said special assess-
ments being based on the spacial valuation and appraisement of said
lots and pieces of ground heretofore nude by three disinterested
appraisers appointed by the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Salinas Kansas, which said appraisement is hereby referred to and
made a part of this ordinance, and the several amounts levied,
apportioned and assessed against such lots and pieces of ground for
the purpose aforesaid are hereby found and determined to be as
follows:

Section 2_ Said amounts levied, apportioned and assessed
eforesaid shall be due and collectible in ten equal installment',
she first becoming due with the taxes levied for the year
and ore of said installments falling rlue each and every year
tnereafter until all are paid., andall to be collected with in-
te2est as in this ordinance provided; PROVIDED HOWEVER, that the
u.'Iner' of any piece of property liable for any such assessment
may .redeem his property from such liability by paying into the
Cil -y Treasury the entire amount chargeable against the same, as
in this ordinance designated, at any time within thirty days
n.fter the publication of this ordinance and before the issuance
cf the bonds of said city in payment of the balance of said im--
Fro-ements, and his propert so paid on shall not thereafter be
liable for any further assessments for the cost of said improve -
men's, nor for any part of said bonds.
Section g. There is hereby further levied arid. assessed
aganst each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance
per cent interest per annum o.,i all of said installments
therein mentioned from the date of the bonds, which may be issued
aL the end of thirty days, as specified in the preceding section
hereof, as by law provided, to the ti -le of collection of the last
installment, as provided by law, which said interest shall be
collected annually at the same time and in the same manner as
said installments are collected; and after the taking effect of
this ordinance it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of said
city to ar:nually, at the same time other taxes are certified,
and until all of said assessments so apportioned and levied here-
in have been certified, co certify to the County Clerl,: of Saline
County, Kansas, a full last of all property liable to assessment
and taxation for such work and improvement, except such property
on �irhich the special assessments aforesaid have been paid in full
as hereinbefore provided, together wits the respective amounts
due on each of such lots and I-ieces of ground, which amounts shall
nc�u-3e the annual installments of such. special assessments
