AN ORDINANCE levying special assessments against certain property
to pay the cost of constructing certain water and sewer
service pipes in certain streets in the City of Salina,
Kansas.
'.WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners have heretofore ordered the
owners of the property hereinafter described to lay water and
sewer service pipes from the water and sewer mains in the streets
abutting thereon at the back of the curb line in said streets,
prior to the paving thereof, and
MERFAS, notice was duly given by publication in the official city
paper of said order and the owners of the property hereinafter
described did not within 30 days after the last publication of said
notice lay said service pipes and the city laid or caused the same
to be laid, pursuant to Section 12-832 to 12-833 of the Revised
Statutes of Kansas, 1923, and the cost thereof has been ascertained
and remains unpaid by the property owners liable therefor; NOW
THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That there be and there is hereby levied and
assessed against each of the lots and parts of lots hereinafter
described, a special tax or assessment for the purpose of paying
that part of the cost of constructing and laying said water or
sewer service pipes taxable against such lots and ;_arts of lots,
in the various amounts set opposite the following described lots
and parts of lots, to -wit:

Section 2. That the owner of any piece of property liable
for any such assessment may redeem his property from such liability
by;aying into the City Treasury the amount chargeable against
the same, as in this ordinance provided, at any time within thirty
days after the publication of this ordinance, and the City Clerk
is direc-.ed to give notice of such assessments, by mail, to such
oy!ners, and the City Clerk is hereby directed and authorized after
the expiration of said thirty days to certify any of such assess-
ments as then remain unpaid to the bounty Clerk of Salina County,
Kansas, to be placed upon the tax roll for collection, subject to
the same and collected in like manner as other taxes
_penalties
with interest at 6% per annum.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication once in the official city
paper.
