ORDINANCE NO. 3875 '
City of Salina to permit the growth thereon of weeds, rank grass
or other obnoxious grov✓ths of vegetation and it shall be the duty
• of every owner, occupant or person in charge of any such lot or
piece of land within the City of Salina to cut and destroy all weeds,
rank grass or other obnoxious growths of vegetation thereon.
Secti^n 2. The existence of weeds, rank grass or other
obnoxious growths of vegetation on any lot or piece of land within
the City of Salina is hereby declared to be a public nuisance and

BE I`1' ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Sal'na,
Kansas:
Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any owner, occupant
or other person in charge of any lot or piece of land within the
City of Salina to permit the growth thereon of weeds, rank grass
or other obnoxious grov✓ths of vegetation and it shall be the duty
• of every owner, occupant or person in charge of any such lot or
piece of land within the City of Salina to cut and destroy all weeds,
rank grass or other obnoxious growths of vegetation thereon.
Secti^n 2. The existence of weeds, rank grass or other
obnoxious growths of vegetation on any lot or piece of land within
the City of Salina is hereby declared to be a public nuisance and
in the
event of the
failure of
the
owner,
occupant
or person in
charge
of any such
lot or piece
of
land to
cut and
destroy such
weeds, rank grass or other obnoxious growths or vegetation thereon,
it shall t)e the duty of the Strr,et Superintendent, at any time after
this ordinance takes effect, to proceed to cut and destroy all such
weeds, rank grass or other obnoxious growths of vegetation found by
him on anir lot or piece of ground in the City of Salina.
Section 3. It shall be unlawful for any person, owner or
• occupant or person in charge bf any lot or piece of land in the
City of Salina, to interfere with or to attempt to prevent the
Street Superintendent or any person employed or designated by him
to cut and destroy any such weeds, rank grass or other obnoxious
growths of vegetation, from entering upon any such lot or piece
of ground or from proceeding with such cutting and destruction.
Section 4. The Street Superintendnet shall keep an account
of the cost of cutting and d estroying the weeds, rank grass or other
obnoxious growth of vegetation on each such lot or piece of ground
in the City of Salina, and shall report the same to the City Clerk
and such cost shall be by ordinance assessed against each such lot
or piece of land and such special assessments shall �)e by the City
Clerke entified to the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas to be
collected in like manner as other taxes and special assessments are
collected according to law.

Section 5. Any person who shall violate any of the provisions
of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon
convict' --,n thereof shall be fined not less than $5.00 nor more than
:25.00 for each offense. This provision shall be in addition to any
other provisinn contained in this ordinance, and the assessment of
the cost of cutting and destroying any weeds, ranU grass or other
obnoxious ,growths of vegetation against any lot or piece of land
shall not be deemed to and shall not prevent the assessment of the
penalty provided for in this section against any person found guilty
of violating the provisions of this ordinance.
Section 6. That Ordinance No. 2918 of the City of Salina, being
Chapter 31 of Revised Ordinances 1925 be and the same is hereby re-
pealed.
Section 7. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
after its publication once in the official city paper.
