3800 Regulating Hanging SignsAN ORDINANCE relating to and regulating the erection and construction of signs hanging over or across streets and public thoroughfares in the City of Salina, amending Section 4 of Ordinance No. 3021 being Section 5-604 of Revised Ordinances 1925, and repealing such original section. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1, That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 3021 being Section 604 Revised Ordinances 1925 of the City of Salina, be and the same isl reby amended to read as follows: � "Section 4. That no sign hereafter erected or constructed, or re -erected, reconstructed or rebuilt, in the City of Salina, Kansas, attached to or projecting from any building, structure, post or other fixture, shall project into or hand over or across any street or public thoroughfare (including the part t)e reof occupied by any sidewalk or parkway) a distance of more than three feet from the perpendicular side of the buflding, structure, post or other fixture to which any such sign may be attached or affixed, and in no event more than three feet from the property line between the street and the private property upon which any such building, structure, post or other fixture is located and the lowest part of any such sign shall be at least ten feet above any such sidewalk or other portion of the street or public thorough- fare above which such sign is erected, except that flat signs made of one thickness of metal only and having an area on one side of three square feet or less and the outer edges of which do not ex- tend more than two feet from the building or structure to which they are attached may have the lowest edge thereof not less than eight feet above any such sidewalk or other portion of the street directly underneath the same. Any sign now existing, which pro- jects into or hangs over or across any street or public thoroughfare of any portion thereof, the lower edge of which is closer to the sidewalk or other portion of such street directly underneath the the same than the distances herein provided for the classes of signs herein described shall be immediately removed by the owner thereof upon notice from the building inspector, and if any such owner shall refuse or neglect to remove any such sign upon receipt of such notice the building inspector shall, and he is hereby authorized to remove any such sign; Provided, however, that the city shall have the right at any time to change the requirements or specifications for any such signs or any other signs heretofore or hereafter erected which project into or hang over any street )LJz.�,tia �s••Y.�e-fir. or pariFt.g thereof or to order the same o*L-e�. at any time here- after and any permit for the erection or re -erection or reconstruction of any such sign may be revoked at any time by the 5oard of Com- missioners of the City of Salina," Section 2.
