AN ORDI`IANCE relating to and fixing the salaries of certain officers and
employees of the City of Salina and repealing certain ordinances and
warts thereof.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Com,aissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That from and after January 1, 1942, the salaries of officers
and emnloyees of the City of Salina hereinafter named and set forth shall be
i the amount hereinafter fixed with respect to each such officer and employee.

Section 2 The salary of the Denuty Cit- Clerk and ex -officio Director
of Finance shall Le ,}135.00 per month.
Section 3. The salary of the Park Superintendent (who shall furnish his
own automobile and expense of operation and upkeep thereof shall be 4175.00 I
per month.
Section 4. That Sections 2 and 3 of Ordinance No. 4985 be a, -id the same

Section 5. That the salary of mec!anic in the Street Departi;ient shall

Section 6. That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 3061, being Section 6-315
Revised Ordinances 19390 and that part of Section 4 of Ordinance No. 4825,
being Section 6-305 Revised Ordinances 1939, relating to the salary of mechanic

in the Street Department, be and the same are hereby repealed.
Section 7. That there be and there is hereby created the office of Assistant

to the Sunerintendent of the Sewa-e Dis osal Plant, ;hose salary shall be X110.00
per month.

Section 8. There shall be in the Police Depart_nent a Chief of Police,

one Police Captain, one Desk Sergeant and Record Clerk, two Desk Sergeants,

Patrolmen First Class, Patrolmen Second Class, Patrolmen and Police liatron,
and such other special officers or special police as the City 1uianarrer may
from time to tir_e appoint. On the taking effect of this ordinance the City
banager and Chief of Police shall assign the present members of the Police
Department to such offices and classifications as they may deem proper and for

the best interest of the Police Department, and shall keep and preserve a re-
cord of the date of appointment, length of service, pay and classification of
each member of the Police Department now in service or hereafter ap-Jointed, and
all officers of the Police Depart.nent shall at any time be assif,ned to and per-
form such duties as ::,ay be assigned and desi-nated by the C"lief of Police. Special
police of 'icers witriout pay ;nay be appointed and cor:anissic.ned by the City Yanager
for such duties as may be specified in their co.,miissions, and such cola issions

°ection 9. The salary of the Chief of Police shall be X200.00 -ger Month.

Section loo The salaries of the Police Captain, Desk SerCeant and Record Clerk,
Desk Sergeants, and of First Class Patrolmen shall be fixed at the present base pay of
such officers, to -wit: Captain 4135.00 per month, Desk Sergeant and Record Clerk
$130.00 per month, Desk Sergeants and First Class Patrolmen 4120.00 per ,,onth plus an
amount computed at the rate of ;1.00 Der rionth increase for each year of service, in
excess of five years, served by any such officer on the Police Department, which rate
of increase shall continue until such officer shall have served for a period of twenty
ye a r s .

Section 11. Patrolmen iiqo have served for less than five years shall be designated
as Second Class Patrolmen. They shall receive a salary computed as follows.

Section 12. Special Patrolmen shall receive a salary of X120.00 per month.
Section 13. The Police 1.1'atron, who shall also be caretaker of the city restroom,
shall receive a salary of ;15.00 per month.
Section 14. Any special police offficers who may be corfiraissioned by the City '„.anap,er
and assirned to special duty shall be paid such amount for their services as 1;:ay be

Section 15. That Sections 1 and 2 of Ordinance No. 3323, being Sections 19-110
and 19-111 Revised ordinances 1939, Pection 3 of Urdinance .Io. 4825, beini- Section
6-304 Revised Ordinance 1039, and Section 5 of Ordinance No. 4985, and any other parts
of ordinances specifically in conflict i,,,ith the preceding sections of this ordinance,
be and the sane are hereby repealed.

AN ORDINANCE relating to and fixing the salaries of certain officers and
employees of the City of Salina and repealing certain ordinances and
parts thereof.
BE IT ORDAI:ED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas.
Section 1. That from and after January 1, 1942, the salaries of officers
and employees of the City of Salina hereinafter named and set fo,,.th shall be
the amount hereinafter fixed with respect to each such officer and employee.
Section 2. The salary of the Deputy City Clerk and ex -officio Director
of Finance shall be 4135.00 per month.
Section 3. The salary of the Park Superintendent (who shall furnish

Section 4. That Sections 2 and 3 of Ordinance No. 4985 be and the
same are hereby repealed.
Section 5. That the salary of mechanic in the Street Department shall

Section 6. That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 3061, being Section 6-315
Revised Ordinances 1939, and that part of Section 4 of Ordinance No. 4825,
being Section 6-305 Revised Ordinances 1939, relating to the salary of mechanic
in the Street Department, be and the same are hereby repealed.
Section 7. That there be and there is hereby created the office of
Assistant to the Superintendent of the Sewage Disposal Plant, whose salary
shall be 4110.00 per month.
Section 8. There shall be in the Police Department a Chief of Police,
one Police Captain, one Desk Sergeant and Record Clerk, two Desk Sergeants,
Patrolmen First Class, Patrolmen Second Class, Patrolmen and Police 1,1atron,
and such other special officers or special police as the City N_anager may
from time to time appoint. On the taking effect of this ordinance the City
P,_anager and Chief of Police shall assign the present members of the Police

and for the best interest of the Police Department, and shall keep and
preserve a record of the date of appointment, length of service, pay and

any time be assigned to and perform such duties as may be assigned and
designated by the Chief of Police. Special police officers without pay
may be appointed and corunissioned by the City L,anaSer for such duties as
may be specified in their commissions, and such commissions may be revoked
at any time by the City Tanager.
Section 9. The salary of the Chief of Police shall be $200.00 per
month.
Section 10. .The salaries of the Police Captain, Desk Sergeant and
Record Clerk, Desk Sergeants, and of First Class Patrolmen shall be fixed
at the present -base pay -o -f such officers to-ivit: Captain $135.00 per m..nth,
Desk Sergeant and Record Clerk •130.00 per month, Desk Sergeants and First
Class Patrolmen $12-0.00 per month plus an amount computed at the rate of
X1.00 per month increase for each year of service, in excess of five years,
served by any such officer on the Police Departi:tent, which rate of increase
shall continue until such officer shall have served for a period. of twenty
years on the police departrient, at which time such increases sna.11 case.
SeLrtion ll Patrolmen who have served for less than five years shall
be designated as Second Class Patrolmen. They shall. receive a 'salary computed

the department and designated as a patrolman first class, his salary shall
be fixed as provided by ordinance for Patrolmen First Class.

Section 13. The Police hlatron, who shall also be caretaker of the
city restroom, shall receive a salary of 415.00 per month.
Section 14. 'Any special police officers who may be con! issioned by
the City T.anaTer and assigned to special duty shall be paid such amount
for their services as may be fixed by the City P;anager and not to exceed
pay at the rate of 4120.00 per month.
Section 15. That Sections 1 and 2 of Ordinance No. 3323, being
Sections 19-110 and 19-111 Revised Ordinances 1939, Section 3 of Ordinance
No. 4825, being Section 6-304 Revised Ordinance 1939, and Section 5 of
Ordinance No. 4985, and any other parts of ordinances specifically in con-
flict with the preceding sections of this ordinance, be and the same are
hereby repealed.
