vi.dins for the letting of a contract for such construction and f'or the

BE IT OHDAI!rED by the Board of Cotrccissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:

Section 1. That it is necessary and it is here,, ordered that a storm
sewer which is hereby desicn,�ted as Storm Sewer No. 25, together with all necessary
i inlets and inlet connections, manholes, connecting lines and other appurte.na._7ces
be constructed in the City of Salina along the following course to-riit:

' secticn of?::a.rie+,t;H. and Clark Street, thence east 344.5 feet as a 15" sewer
to a .r.anhnle in ti',est Place, thence north in b"Jest Place 380 feet as a 15" sewer
to a manhole 1.6 feet south of the south line of State Street, thence northeast
38 feet as a 15" sewar to a r:anhole-inlet at the solzth curb lire of State Street,
thence north, crossing State Street, 40 feet as a 15" sewer to a-Iianhole-inlet
at the north curb line of said street, thence east 318 feet as a 15" sel-er, 3
feet north of the north curb line of State Street to a manhole -inlet; at the
northwest intersection of State and ColleT,e Streets, thence east 50 feet as a
12" sewer to a manhole -inlet at the northeast intersection of State and College
Streets, thence 318 feet as a 12" sewer to a rlanhole-inlet at the northwest inter-
section of S+ate and Phillirs Street.
Section 2. That it is necessary and it is hereby ordered that a storm
sewer which is hereby designated as Storm Sewer No. 26, together v�,ith all nec-
essary inlets and inlet connections, manholes, connecting lines and other appur-
tenances be constructed in the City of Salina along the folloiuir,; course,to-,�Fit:
Beginning at the existing manhole -inlet on an existing storm sewer at
the northwest corner of Iron Avenue and Eleventh Street, thence north 320 feet
as a 12" sewer to a manhole -inlet at the soithwest corner of Eleventh arta State
Streets.
Section 3. That on or before the 29th day of January 1940 the City
Engineer shall prepare and file in the office of the City Clerk detailed plans
and specifications for the construction of the storm sewer provided for in ,section
1 and 2 of this ordinance with vitrified and /or concrete st-wer pipe or any combina-
t1on of such types of sewer pipe and on or before the swine date shall prepare and
file in the office of the City Clerk, under oath, detailed estimates of cost
thereof. After such plans and specifications and estimates of cost stall ve
been filed, the City Clerk shall advertise by advertisements published in the
o"*'icial city paper for at least three consecutive days for sealed proposals
for the building; and construction of such storm sewers and at the tune and place
mentioned the Bostrd of Cominissioners may contract with the lowest and best re-
snorlsible bidder therefor for the building and construction of such storm set^vers,
but the ri`ht to reject any and all bids shall be and is hereby reserved; and pro -
vided further that if no responsible person shall propose to enter into a contract

at a price not exceeding the estimated cost the Board of Conan.issioners may
proceed to construct said improvements within the estimated cost thereof
and shall purchase the necessary tools, apparatus and mate_-ials and employ
the necessary labor for the purpose of constructing the same.
Section 4. That for the payment of the cost of such work except such
part thereof as may be paid from funds furnished by an Federal or State Agency
or except for such labor as may be furnished by any Federal. or State Agency,
the Board of Conwissioners shall issue Improvement Bonds of the City of Salir.a,
Kansas, in an amount not to exceed the total cost of such work and improve-
ments, except as herein provided, to be payable in ten approximately equal
annual installments and to bear interest at not to exceed 5J per annum from
the date of such bonds, and for the purpose of paying such bonds and interest
as they severally mature, the Board of Commissioners shall annually levy a
tax upon all real and personal property in the City of Salina in an amount
sufficient to pay the annual installments of such principal and interest, and
that pending the issue of such bonds, temporary notes shall be issued according
to law, to pay the cost of such work.
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force froJa and
after its publication in the official city paper.

City of Salina to be designated as Storm Sewers No. 25 and No. 26, and
providing for the letting of a contract for such construction and for
the doing of such work by the City in the event a contract is not let
therefor and for the payment of the cost thereof.

northeast 38 feet as a 15" sewer to a manhole -inlet at the south curb line
Of State Street, thence north, crossing State Street, 40 feet as a 15" serer
to a manhole -inlet at the north curb line of said street, thence east 318
feet as a 1.5" sewer, 3 feet north of thenorth curb line of State Street to
a manhole -inlet at the northwest intersection of State and College Streets,
thence east 50 feet as a 12" sewer to a manhole -inlet at the northeast inter-
section of State and College Streets, thence.318 feet as a 12" sewer to a man-
hole -inlet at the northwest intersection of State and Phjllips Street.
