AN ORDITIAYCE authorizing and providing for the publication in book
form of the retTi_sed and compiled ordinances of the City of
Salina, Kansas, and providin,,; for the authentication and
distribution thereof.
BE IT ORDAI[ED by the 9>oard of C omrli s s i one rs of the City of Salina,
K,insas s
Section 1. That the general ordinances of the city of Salina,
Kansas be compiled, revised and classified, such compilation, revision
and classification to be done by H. 3. Jenkins of Salina, as by contract
hroviced, with the assistance and under the supervision of 1.7. S. I?orris,
City Attorney.
Section 2. That such compilation, classification and revision
shall inc'_ude all of the r7eneral ordinances of the City of Salina
vil..ich shall take effect up to the date of the ,rublication t1,.ereof,
provided however, that such ,^general ordinances other than general
regulatory ordinances shall be included by appropriate reference to
the subject, effect and number.
Section 3. That all ordinances which shall have been passed to
take effect upon the publication thereof in the Book of Revised
Ordinances w1 ich have not heretofore taken effect, shall be published
in full, and that all other ordinances ti^;hi_ch shall have tal,.en effect
otherwise than br such publication shall be classified in accoro.ance
with the subject thereof, under the proper chapter headings, and all
formal parts of such ordinances may be omitted;;)rovided however, that
each section of any ordinance published shall contain the prolper reference
to the ori sinal ordinance numbe7 and date, including, any amendments
thereto.
Section 4. That such revised ordinances shall be published in
book form and not less than one hundred copies thereof shall be
published in such style and form as the Board of Commissioners may
approve and order, and when so published, said Book shall be known
as "Revised Ordinances of the City of Salina, Kansas, 1939" and. upon
such publication in said book, all ordinances which have been Passed
to take effect upon ;)i,,blicaLion In the Book of Revised Ordinances
shall thereupon take effect and be in force pursuant to and in accordance
with the provisions of Sections 13-1422, 13-1423 and 13-2902, General
Statutes of Kansas, 1935, and that all ordinances -published in such
book to take effect upon such publication, and al]_ ordinances or parts
of ordinances remaining in effect at the time of such publication and
plzbli.shed therein shall be read and received in evidence in all courts
and places without further proff t'r_ereof, pursuant to and in accorcl.ance
-U,-ith the provisions of said Section 13-1422 of the General Statutes of
Kansas 1935; provided however, that the City Clerk of the City of Sal_Ina

shall certify and attach to said book his certificate that the
ordinances :)ublished in said book are the ordinances duly authorized
to be published by the Board of Cor -r issioners ?pursuant to the pro-
visi_ons of this ordinance, and that all such ordinances or parts
of ordinances so published rc: ain _ n effect at the date of said
certificate and publleation and that such certificate of a,,ithentication
shall be printed in each copy of such book.
Section 5. That said books when Printed shall be delivered to
the City Clerk of the City of Salina, Kansas who shall thereupon
deliver one copy thereof to the City Manax er and to each member
of the Board of Commis loners and one cony to the head of each
department of the City of Salina, and the remaining; copies shall
be retained bar him in his office to be sold to such persons as may
desire the same at a price of 4,,2.50 per copy, and any unsold copies
shall be distributed or disposed of by h_i_m In such manner as may be
approved by the City TTana.-er.
Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be In force
from and after its publication in the Salina Journal, the official
city paper.
