06-6325 Initiate Proceedings North Broadway CorridorRESOLUTION NUMBER 06-6325 RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NUMBER 04-6086 OF THE CITY REGARDING PROCEEDINGS BY THE GOVERNING BODY FOR STREET AND INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS IN THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS. Z s WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas (the "City"), has designated Broadway Boulevard, North Street, Ninth Street, Pacific Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue as main trafficways pursuant to K.S.A. 12-685 et seq. (the "Act"); and WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the City has determined that it is necessary to improve or reimprove portions of said main trafficways as follows: The improvement of Broadway Boulevard from approximately its intersection with North Street through its intersection with Ninth Street and Pacific Avenue, the improvement of Pacific Avenue from its intersection with Ninth and Broadway to its intersection with Santa Fe, and the improvement (including without limitation paving and signalization) of the following intersections: (1) Broadway Boulevard and North Avenue, (2) Broadway Boulevard, Ninth Street and Pacific Avenue and (3) Santa Fe Avenue and Pacific Avenue (the "Improvements"); and WHEREAS, on June 21, 2004, the Governing Body of the City adopted Resolution No. 04-6086 authorizing the Improvements and the issuance of bonds and temporary notes therefore in the maximum principal amount of $1,800,000; and WHEREAS, reports, estimates and plans have been compiled and furnished to the Governing Body of the City showing that the estimated costs of the project have increased to $2,175,682, plus costs of issuance and plus costs of interest on any temporary financing; and WHEREAS, such increased costs of the Improvements necessitate the amendment of Resolution No. 04-6086. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. Section 3 of Resolution No. 04-6086 is hereby amended as follows: Section 3. It is anticipated that the cost of the Improvements shall be paid from funds of the City available for such purpose and/or by the City -at -large through the issuance of one or more series of general obligation bonds of the City as provided by the Act, and pending the issuance of said bonds, through the issuance of one or more series of temporary notes of the City, the estimated maximum principal amount of such obligations being $2,176,167, plus costs of issuance and plus costs of interest on any temporary financing. Section 2. The City expects to make capital expenditures on and after the date of adoption of this Resolution in connection with the Improvements, and intends to reimburse itself for such expenditures with the proceeds of one or more series of general obligation bonds and temporary notes of the City in the estimated maximum principal amount of $2,176,167, plus costs of issuance and plus costs of interest on any temporary financing. Section 3. Section 3 of Resolution No. 04-6086 is hereby repealed. Section 4. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
