AN ORDINANCE providing for the calling and holding of an election of the quzlified
voters of the City of Salina, Kansas, to vote upon the question of authorizing
the Board of Commissioners of said city to issue its bonds in the amount of
(65,000.00 for the purpose of paying the cost of purchasing land for park
purposes and the erection of buildings on and Laproving the public park system
of the City of Salina.
WHEREAS, in the judgment of the Board of Commissioners of Salina, Kansas, it is
expedient that said city purchase land for park purposes and erect buildings and
improve the public park system of the City of Salina; and
71HEREAS, the cost of said purchase of land, erection of buildings on and improving
the public park system of the City of Salina will not exceed the estimated amount
of $65,000.00; and
ViBEREAS, it is necessary to issue bonds to pay the cost of said land and said
improvements; and
VPHEREAS, it is necessary before said bonds may be legally issued to submit the
propositions of issuing the same for such purposes to the qualified eleetros of
said city at an election to be held within SU days from the date of the adoption
and publication of this ordinance; and
ffiLahAS, the City of Salina is a city of the first class; and
WHEREAS, the issuance of said bonds and orners now contemplated will not create a
debt in excess of the limit now provided by law; and so, NUMV TdEREFURE
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
SECTION 1. That the preambles of this ordinance are hereby incorporated
herein and that an election is hereby called to be held in the City of Salina,
Kansas, April 1, 1947, between the hours of 6:00 o'clock A. M. and 7:UO Y. M.
of said day, at the time of the regular city election and within 30 days after
the adoption and publication of this ordinance according to law and that such
election shall be held at the usual place of holding elections and shall be con-
ducted by the officers or persons provided by law for holding elections in said
City of Salina, Kansas, and that a majority of the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Salina, Kansas, being the governing body of said city, shall and are here-
by ordered and directed to publish notice of said election in the manner and form
directed and required by Section 1U-120 General Statutes of Kansas, 1935, and that
the purpose of calling said election is to submit to the qualified electors of said
city the proposition of the issuing of bonds of said city in the amount of *65,000.00
to pay the cost of purchasing land for park purposes and the cost of erecting build-
ings on and installing other imprpmaents in and upon the public park system of said
city, as more particularly set forth. in Section 2 hereof*
Section L That the proposition to be voted upon by the qualified electors of
said city at said election shall be substantially the following:
