All ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction
Company for the construction of a certain storm sewer in the City of
Salina, heretofore designated as Storm Sewer No. 25, and providing for
the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending issuance
and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina of the proposal
of H.J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "contractor"
as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on October 14th, 1946, which is hereby
found to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the
Board of Commissioners of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of the
city by its Mayor on October 14, 1946, for the construction of certain public improve-
ments in the City of Salina, to -wit:
Construction of Storm Sewer No. 25, together with all
necessary inlets, inlet connections, manholes, connect-
ing lines, sluice gates and other appurtenances and
which is hereby denominated the Antrim Avenue Storm
Sewer, which includes the main sewer running from Dry
Creek east in Antrim Avenue and terminating at Fourth
Street and all laterals which drain into the Antrim
Avenue Storm Sewer, being described as laterals, for
convenience only, numbered 1, 1-A, 1-A-1, 1-B, 1-C, 20
2-A, 2-B, 2-B-1, 3, 3-A, 3 -AL -10 3 B, E+ C, NF -1 and M-2,
all being part of said storm sewer No. 25, more parti-
oularly described as followss
Antrim Avenue Main: Beginning at a point on the east bank
of Dry Creek is point is north 18 degrees 00' west 181
feet of a point on the center line of Eleventh Street and
19 feet south of the north line of Antrim Avenue; thence
south 18 degrees OOt east 181 feet with a 66 -inch sewer
pipe to manhole No. 1; thence east in Antrim Avenue with
a 60 -inch sewer pipe to the intersection of Tenth Street
to manhole No. 2; thence continuing east with a 54 -inch
sewer pipe to the intersection of Seventh Street to man-
hole No. 5; thence continuing east in Antrim Avenue with

Lateral No, A-2. Beginning at manhole No. 4 in the intersection of Antrim
venue and Eighth Street; thence north in Eighth Street with a 15 -inch
sewer pipe 270 feet to manhole No. 17, being the terminus of Lateral
N- 2.
Lateral No. A-1. Beginning at manhole No. 2 in the intersection of
Antr Avenue and Tenth Street; thence north in Tenth Street with
a 15 -inch sewer pipe 170 feet to manhole No. 16, being the terminus
of Lateral M-1.
at and for the unit prices for sa.d work contained in said proposal, which proposal
and contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the same
is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of
said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in
the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part
of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accord-
ance with the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on
file in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said
contractor and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred
to and made parts of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by
the City Clerk be issued fdom time to time as the work progresses in the manner
and form as required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the contract
price for such mark, such notes to bear interest not to exceed 4 1/2 per centum per
annum and to mature not later than December 31, 1941, and to be issued in such amounts
and at such time as money for thepayment of the cost of such notes to be issued to
said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that permanent bonds
are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect aid be in force from and
after its publication in the official city paper.
